Their name comes from the four Renaissance artists : Donatello by Donatello , Leonardo of Leonardo da Vinci , Michelangelo of Michelangelo Buonarroti and Raphael of Raffaello Sanzio , which they have received from their master Splinter , a mutated rat-like man.
