please increase the character limit for reviews
i ran out of characters on my fallout 4 review but i have much more to say about the game, the character limit seems to be about 5k charactes? i doubt it would cost that much to increase it to something like 20k

I would like to see the ability to actually write in depth reviews as well (i'd prefer as such even more characters if possible.)
or maybe a revamp of the review system. One where you have a summary or just a small part of the review displayed on the Store page, and where you can read the rest of the review as well.

Currently the word "Review" is a bit--- deceiving.
I think the goal of the current review system is to Advise Players on whether or not they should or shouldn't buy it (or if you have no opinion on this)

So "Advise" would be better as such. But you do decided to call it a review.

Lots of games contain a lot of ... bloat basically, too many features. Do they all work properly? There is too little space to explain what happens when you interact with these even when you try to keep it short.

maybe, but most wont even use 1k, because most people dont spend much time browsing and reading other comments, or trying to find accurate analysis.

but you could make a video, and leaver the link after a short description or few introductory comments

more detailed reviews could be encouraged if the "social platform aspect" of steam was also encouraged through points and meritocratic moderation powers similar to what used to be done in newgroundsDOTcom (i ignora any recent changes because i havent checked their site recently).

also, if a stickers were allowed to be used (with a very small daily limit of uses; ie n amount of stickers n times, like a total of 3 times the same sticker, or 3 different stickers, per forum per day). threads would be more interesting visually; maybe also allow video thumbnails for any "video links". something similar could also be interesting for reviews, from people that have proven to be able to make good use (ie havent been confirmed as spammers or pranksters). then, an increase limit of characters could also be a meritocratic option (to prevent abuse).

They are reviews, but is true most are "bad", not as in negative, but in the sense of "poorly written".

the section is named "reviews" because that is the intended use, and most users understand that. that doesnt mean everyone will care to make good reviews ("properly written"), or be able to communicate effectively something useful.

thats why i think such feature could exist as a "meritocratic option", after earning the "score" points from their activity in forums, like giving advice or support, or participating (even ranting) without insulting or acting very aggressively against other users, etc.

that way the feature could become appealing for video reviewers and people more involved in doing better, more accurate and entertaining reviews, in and outside steam.

I second this, as there are a few great games and masterpieces that deserve in depth reviews. Had to cut a few of mine short, because of the word limit. Notably Elden Ring, Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternative.

Making a video review doesn't make sense in my case since I plan to update my review the more I play the game, I would have to continually reupload the video to get the same information across, plus writing is just easier than making a video and getting your thoughts across is also easier

I dunno about this. I read a lot of reviews and those that are concise and to the point are more helpful. When I see a long review, I usually skip it because much of it is unrelated commentary. It's like online recipes when the author writes 5 paragraphs about the history of bread before getting to the actual recipe. Brevity is powerful. Think of it as a game :)

yeah and just like a game some reviews are gonna have more content in them, like fallout 4, thus a longer review would be more appropriate for this game and other games like it,
and just because you would skip a long review doesn't mean it isn't helpful to others

If I want a detailed review I'll go elsewhere, to like... a... what are those things you visit in a browser... where you can read essays or view game-play recordings and critiques? Yes, please use ten thousand words to describe face-punch 7 and know that without hours of your free work dumped like warm dog-excrement on the sun-soaked local coupons-and-events paper I found by my front stoop we will be forever left to wallow in the unlit tunnels of ignorance and be unable to spend our discretionary funds without the proper level of discretion which you require. Please, more amateur reviews. More vapid yes-men/women/thems worshipping at the alter of narcissistic-hustle culture. Please, MORE CHARACTERS!

yeah but the point of having more character on steam is because its more convenient and all in one place unlike the browser you mention
