It's not an ownership thing. As long as the core software is offered free. And Steam has the option to offer free. Slitherine can't sell the core game, but there is nothing stopping them from marketing the Mega Campaigns.
And it would be cool if the Depot guys could circulate a competently installing file for their modified file as well.

It's one of my Matrix Games files.
I like Steam these days.
But sadly, I ain't shelling out for Windows 11, so my main gaming machine will not be using Steam. Which means I have been moving to installs from Non Steam, installers.
I'm not happy with that, Steam.
Eventually installed it on another system, copied the whole folder, transferred to the system I wanted it on, and it runs.
Whatever works eh.
Also the coupon is only the second one they gave me a few days ago in all the time I used slitherine so I was happy to try it but slitherine disabled it before I could use it which is weird. And they try to block me from my account by constantly making me do weird google click on picture cognitive tests. Like I said, things are getting very weird on that slitherine site. I made a mistake buying games from them and should only use steam which is reliable and doesn't go crazy.
But why is their no mention of Valor and Victory in the list of associated games here :)
But I do (own the games).
Other than Decisive Campaigns Ardennes. Which duh, is still new so not on sale.
I'm waiting on Steam's seasonal sale. A few DLC are in my sights.

It doesn't need to be ON Steam, to be marketed THROUGH Steam.
I still have access to Slitherine. But Steam is just fine. It's sad that some wargame sites are really just gone. Wargamer is a pale shadow, ACG is no more. Matrix Games hasn't been the same since 2005. I don't think 'forums' have aged well. They were the thing for a number of years between 2000-2010. Now referring to forums just marks a person as 'old' :)
A lot of blowhards on that forum. You are better off without them.
Anyway, I just want to mention, I've had men buy me wargames just because they liked my input that much. This has happened on numerous wargaming forums over the last 20 years. Wargamer, Matrix Games, Armchair General, many big sites. I've been sent models. I've been given overt praise.
I just want to thank all of those individuals. You make the hobby great.
A global community for military-strategy fans.
I think it will be quite the competitor for Valor and Victory
Over all, I think 2021 will be a good year for squad tactical.
Now if they could just give us Steel Tigers and stop fawning over massively expensive, massively complicated and massively tedious titles :)
I'm just wondering if there will be any room left in the day for it though.
Or will it be massively underwhelming.
