If you are unsure about Stellaris it offers many unique features:
Deep & Varied Exploration.
Enormous procedurally generated galaxies, containing thousands of planets.
Explore Anomalies with your heroic Scientist leaders.
Infinitely varied races through customization.
Advanced Diplomacy system worthy of a Grand Strategy Game.
Ship Designer based on a vast array of technologies.
Stunning space visuals.

My favorite and most noted feature is that Stellaris is not a "turn based" 4x title meaning everything happens in real time making you react to situations. Yes, there is a pause button for those who need it.
