With the current instabilities, and my spring travel plans, it didn't make sense to try and keep the server up.

I do appreciate all your support, and should Keen actually work on fixing some bugs instead of just release new buggy features, I'll bring things back up.

Hi all. Personally, I'm rather bummed out right now.

For the last several months, we have all been experiencing bugs that wipe out our efforts (desync, landing pads, etc.). Now there is apparently one with airtight doors:

I have a good sized large ship that I've spent weeks building a tweaking. Added airtight doors and all the Oxygen equipment to play with that. All looked good until I came online one morning to find the ship trashed. Using save files copied locally, I can see the bug. Something is causing the walls next to the airtight doors to collapse by applying pressure on them. Thrusters fire up to counteract the resulting movement. Walls collpase, cargo bays explode, and half the ship goes "poof" over a few minutes. I can actually watch this all happen seconds after I connect to the medlab, and before I can reach to flight chair to try and stop any of it.

Personally I'm demoralized. Keen keeps adding features, but in the months we have been playing, has not addressed a single major bug (landing pads, rotors, pistons, etc.). We have been identifying the bugs and playing around them, but this is getting very very old.

Running the server is complex enough with the multiple mandatory patches, add in the Extender wrapper and related Extensions mods, and its becomes a daily chore.

I'm thinking about taking the server down until the either address some of the current stabiltiy bugs or admit they are only adding new features to drive to sales and have no intention of ever getting past "early release" status. I hope that is not true, but it sure feels that way.

Good news: even without a patch, Extender is allowing this version to run - so the server is up.

Obviously Extender is having a few issues, but other than not displaying the world name, I'm not seeing anything new broken.

Bad news: Several sites are reporting that Extender is blowing away everything during the daily cleanup. We saw this as well at 8am this morning, causing us to restore to a 6:30am backup. I have added another backup just minutes before the cleanup runs just to be safe. Oddly, the cleanup commands run fine when done manually, so hopefully this is something Dodexahedron can fix quickly. Also, many of the Extender commands are not working correctly, like the ability to move a user and some scan grids commands. Dodexahedron is away of this.

Compliments of DoDexahedron's help we are fully up and operational again.

If you have had invisible ship or station issues those are likely visible again as well.

Now we but need to see what tomorrow's patch brings, but this was the biggie.

Apparently KE changed the obfuscator they are using in SE with Thursday morning's patch. This is requiring the Extenders teams to change over 600 strings in their code.

Additionally, Trysis is retiring his Extender efforts and it turning it over to Dodexhedron (unstandable, having thing changing every week and trying to adapt has got to be exhausing).

As of this 10am Central, 3/20 we don't have a functional version of the Extender to run. I tried running native, and entire ships and bases have disappeared, although oddly, some are just fine, but weeks of work is gone.

I'm headed out of town for the weekend, so unless Dodex posts a new update within the next few hours, we will be down until at least late Sunday night.

Wide open to suggestions, but honestly getting a bit burnt out trying to keep up with all these changes myself. Hopefully I'll recharge over the weekend.
