♔ Battle of Tavastehus ♔

First battle of the Finnish War. The Russian army marched towards the town of Tavastehus/Hämeenlinna an tried to capture it. However, me, King Karl XIV Johan, arrived to the Karelian Front, I too command of the army stationed in there. Battle was bloody, and the snowy fields are not innocent white.

Russian army corps shelled our positions with heavy artillery, but our men stood. The battle was bloody, and claimed the live of over 800+ Swedish and Finnish soldiers. However, the good news is, that we have halted the Russian advance, and if possible, we can go on offensive, and even reclaim lost city ov Viborg!

♚ Declaration of War ♚

21st of February, in the year of our Lord, 1808.

Citizens, Nobles, Soldiers. We are in war. Our eastern neighbour, Russian Empire, declared war on us. After we declined their demands of Ending our valuable trade with England and preventing british ships from entering the Baltic Sea.

Russians informed us that, because they are in war againts England and we are close allies with the English, they don't see our kingdom as Neutral, and declared war on us to 'secure their interests'.

I declare national mobilisation and our most able generals will prepare their forces in these key positions:

1) Fort of Sveaborg, the 'Gibraltar of Northern Europe'.

2.) Fort of Svartholm.

3.) Karelian Front.

Armies in Finland will get supplies, men and weapons. If we can hold the russian armies, we can go on offensive and even claim regions we have lost.
