Do you remember the freeware horror game Misao, from 2011? And its subsequent release on Steam as a "Definitive Edition" back in 2017?

It's just been upgraded to a brand new HD remaster. (Also, the game will still let you play the non-HD Definitive version in options, if that's your preference)

But the new remaster is still the same entry on Steam, so we can't give it a new curation.

It's taken a good few years, but we've finally hit the milestone of influencing 1 million views of games through our curations.

An incredibly rare obscure title for the PS1 has recently been fan translated into English. It's called Germs: Nerawareta Machi, or, Germs: Targeted City, and was made by an experimental CGI company called KAJ, back in 1999. In fact, it was the only game they ever released, and even then, the release was limited, letting the game fall largely into legend.

It's an open-world, first person, exploration-heavy survival horror game. The early 3D models and sound design give it a very eerie, alienating atmosphere. There is combat, but my understanding is that it isn't the game's main focus. It sounds like a fascinating, but also somewhat cursed, experience.

This game isn't on Steam, nor do I expect it will ever be. I just thought members of our community would be interested in this news, to seek out more information if this seems interesting. I hope you all don't mind the notification.

The game is based on the concepts of John Conway's Game of Life and you manipulate the flow of particle streams to build complex organisms through mutation and photograph them. It also features a soundtrack by veteran composer Yuriko Keino.

The game can be played with a KORG nanoKONTROL2, if you happen to have one, but can also be enjoyed with keyboard and mouse.

Micky also has a few other games on the horizon:
Uootoy is currently in the final stages of production. Another game for smartphones will also be released this month with music by Junko Ozawa, who we know from Space Mouse 2 and Alice and Yuu, and character design by Yuri Yokomizo Sumikko Gurashi.

There are two versions of Key's first game "planetarian ~the reverie of a little planet~" up on Steam; the original version and a new HD version. It's a really old game, they made if before Air and Clannad etc.

There's a news message up on the original version saying they'll delist it from the store on December 1st 2022.

It doesn't say why they're delisting it, maybe they don't want to deal with the cost of maintaining it while they have an HD version on sale too. But if you don't have a copy of the original version and still want it, this is your heads up.
