The report comes from a Chinese tech forum (via Tom's Hardware) where a local admin claims, citing allegedly "accurate information," that Nvidia had notified its board partners about the incoming end of manufacturing, urging them to place their final orders. The information, if accurate, means that the manufacturing of RTX 3060 graphics cards may end in just a few months, just a little short of four years after the initial announcement.

The end of manufacturing does not mean that the remaining RTX 3060 graphics cards will suddenly evaporate from store shelves. You can expect these graphics cards to be available for quite a while with the stock slowly depleting. It also does not mean that Nvidia will stop supporting the GPU — like the rest of the RTX 3000 lineup, it will continue receiving driver updates, new features, support for new games, and other changes for years to come. These days, you can get the RTX 3060 with 12GB of video memory for about $285.

we've had a few discussions on this before
basically, the short version is, sounds like they've dropped all support
saw it coming after turning over to anyone for last stand and cold stream
yet even the so called "developers" themselves don't have rights to full access
look around here a bit and you'll find at least two discussions including my own
speaking with Rayman1103 and Kerry, 2 of the last known good workers, didn't help
impressions i got from so called 'support" tell me we no longer have support
from steam itself or with the game, they've decided it's too old now
even looking to Kerry and Rayman1103, the few Valve listens to, didn't get anywhere

What disappointed me was one of the Support Representatives was named Alexa
Not even Alexa could help us

perhaps they feel like they're overwhelmed and too much to keep up with
their "staff" was never as large as people thought
at least for Left 4 Dead
not counting the so called "developers" of Last Stand (who don't have full access)
there were like 1 or 2 legit people left behind regarding Left 4 Dead 2 who work on it
same two I mentioned earlier

According to the game’s lead, the only way forward was to build a sequel, Left 4 Dead 2

In a recent interview with Game Developer, Left 4 Dead lead Chet Faliszek talked about the origins of the first game and the messy development process behind the popular co-op shooter.

“I don’t think outside people can appreciate how broken the Left 4 Dead engine was but still shipped,” Faliszek said. “It loaded each map two or three times in the background.”

Apparently, someone at Valve did try to fix some of these issues but nothing worked, and sometimes those efforts to repair it led to new, different problems, like survivors disappearing from the game. According to Faliszek, this is why Valve made L4D2 a standalone, self-contained sequel and not just a big update or expansion for L4D1.

“Left 4 Dead was such a broken thing that nobody wanted to touch it,” Faliszek explained. “That game iterated so quickly that if it meant breaking something horrible, where you had to load a map [two] or three times but you could playtest it today, we did it. That meant at some point, you had to pay for that debt. There was no way you were going to support mods for Left 4 Dead in the same way we did for Left 4 Dead 2 without a big reset.”

So why didn’t Valve just explain the situation? According to Faliszek: “When people kill themselves to ship a game, you don’t really want to say that there were problems with it.”

In the end, Faliszek wanted to be “appreciative” of all the work that devs had poured into getting the game out the door. So not explaining the situation was a way to make sure fans and gamers were mad at Valve higher-ups (like Faliszek himself) and not at the devs, who had just worked very hard to make something.

“I’d rather just have somebody mad at me because they thought it was my idea,” Faliszek said.

But when he’s not working on or playing his new game, Faliszek does go back to Left 4 Dead 2, where fans continue to impress him with their mods.

“It’s still fun. It still clicks, and there are so many crazy mods. Oh my god. You can have an understanding of how the game works and then turn it on its head, and it’s just fun and goofy. If you just let people have time with something for long enough, they’re gonna go insane.”
