Throughout the past year, the Team Leaders and I had been planning a transition process whereby today I finally announce my planned retirement from leadership of Bloodbath, along with our second longest-serving team leader, Oracle, as well. After a decade of service to the community, it felt appropriate to continue the tradition of a newer generation taking the reins and providing their own vision and direction.

However, late in the transition process, we discovered that it was not only the current leadership that sought to move on, but the entire replacement leadership as well. With that revelation and the little energy left to delay transition further, the leadership has unanimously decided that Bloodbath will end its server hosting operations by month’s end. Without a passionate and solid leadership team, we cannot in good conscience be running an active server community.

In what seems like an age ago when I took over leadership of Bloodbath, I had written in its description a mission statement that has remained there ever since:

“...passion to provide the most that our games have to offer and create lasting memories for the community before the conclusion of such games come to pass.”

With the conclusion of our games coming to pass, and ourselves along with it, it’s with a full heart that I’m pleased we were able to achieve that impact on this wonderful community. While we host farewell events, many of us will be in reflection of the friendships and memories we built here over the years and remark on how far we’ve come as people and our pursuit of happiness in this small corner of the internet.

Just remember it’s been the friendships- not the games- that have held this community together over the years and our Discord will remain open as a hub for finding those and various games to enjoy together. And for those that still want a similar experience to what we provided with custom content and a veteran player base, we will be supporting our sister servers as they carry on the core games we once offered. But most promising of all, should a game ever emerge that incites passion in the way the Red Orchestra franchise did, and a new generation of leadership wishes to take over, they’ll have the invaluable asset of over two decades-worth of gaming and Bloodbath veterans there behind and ready to support them.

It’s been an honor and heartwarming experience to have played with you all and led this community over the years. I will cherish it always. Thank you for being a part of this community and our lives here at Bloodbath.

This month Bloodbath celebrates its 8th anniversary!

We’ve enjoyed a lot of content over the years and many good friendships and lasting memories have been created along the way. To commemorate, we’re going to revisit our roots through our tradition of hosting events, scrims, and custom content.

Less than two years before the Soviet Union faced off against the Axis during World War II, it waged a lesser known yet bloody war against another adversary: the small nation of Finland.

In 1939, the Soviet Union sought to expand its influence over Eastern Europe and looked to its Nordic neighbor. Citing security concerns about the border’s close proximity to the city of Leningrad, the Soviets demanded the Finnish border be moved back 16 miles along the Karelian Isthmus to create a buffer zone, and further to concede several islands in the Gulf of Finland.

The Finns, suspicious of Soviet motives, rejected their ultimatums. And so on November 30, 1939, the Soviet Red Army launched an invasion of Finland with over half a million troops... Though vastly outnumbered and outgunned, the Finns unleashed their steadfast resolve against their more powerful enemy in what became known as the “Winter War”...

From the rainforests of Vietnam to the white woodlands and frozen lakes of Finland, Bloodbath is pleased to announce the release of the Talvisota: Winter War mod for Rising Storm 2: Vietnam! In continuing our long tradition of supporting custom content and events, this weekend Bloodbath will be hosting a North American launch event for the mod each night at 8:00pm ET from Friday, April 3rd to Sunday, April 5th! The beloved Christmas mod of last year, Green Army Men, has officially dropped as an expansion to Rising Storm 2: Vietnam. You can purchase the DLC from the Steam store to support your community modders. Otherwise, you can still play the content for free but only as a basic rifleman.
