The best way to describe this game is if you made a game for someone who does not consume horror content, and does not play video games. It's a boring slog with 'choices' that feel arbitrary and not entirely logical. The stories pacing is a rush, which by itself might not be bad, but when combined with clues that are so on the nose it's impossible to not understand what's going on about 10 minutes within the 'ghost ship' which makes all the scares so obvious that even the blaring loud music and noises don't make the jump-scares frightening, mostly just annoying.

The villains if they can even be called that are laughably inept. The best example I can give is when they tie all the characters up on the ship they are actively holding hostage. They put duct tape on everyone's mouth, which everyone then pulls off. They have your arms tied, which are then broken off within minutes of them being applied, all while the villains are actively seeing this. Why are you robbing a ship and using these measures for them to be undone in the span of 2 minutes, how is this scary? How is there any danger?

This game is just jumpscares. There is no atmosphere, when a ghost ship is a pretty sick idea of a horror setting. Once you realize the hallucinations are happening its time for a jump scare every 3 minutes. A rat jumping out of a shelf you opened, a pipe bursting, another rat, a loud clank, these kinds of cheap scares ruin the entire vibe and are so cheaply thrown in it is almost insulting.

Terrible game. Terrible writing. Awful characters. Bottom of the barrel "horror" game. Do not buy, even on sale, it is NOT worth it.

I enjoyed this game, second one of the anthology that I’ve play. So far House of Ashes is the better one.

Personally, I feel like this one had an incredibly slow start. The setting is cool once you finally get there. As for the characters, I personally did not like half of the main cast. Story is overall good, kept me engaged for the most part. Definitely buy this one on sale.

If I had to give a score, I’d give it a 7/10.

Don't be fooled by this game, it's not terror, it's involuntary comedy.

Id 50/50 recommend this game, the controls were kinda clunky when playing on keyboard def recommend using a controller. The plot itself was cool especially in multiplayer, I think its just better that way cause of how teamwork actually matters in this story. I feel this is the only game where multiplayer made sense.

In my opinion the best "Dark Pictures" so far.

Fantastic, good jump scares! Not as developed as Until Dawn. But still great

Literally unplayable. Mouse inputs aren't registered half the time, I got to a point very early on where I just couldn't progress at all because of this.

It has other problems but it's not even worth mentioning when the game is so fundamentally broken from the start.

Awesome game

I know this game has been out for over 5 years but this is literally, hands down, one of the best mind-♥♥♥♥ games I have EVER played. The story is quite literally mind-blowing and I've played games like Cyberpunk and RDR2. I got this game on sale but I would easily pay £60 for it without a doubt in my mind. The game is a million times better when you've got someone to play with because of the things that could happen. There are many endings to the game meaning that everyone's play through is unique. PLEASE give this game a try. Sure it's a short game with it taking only 4 and a half hours for me and my mate to complete whilst exploring most of the areas but it is SO worth the money. Take this from a guy who struggles to get into new games, but a friend recommended this to me and I was hooked within minutes of game play, the prologue itself makes you question yourself straight away. Please give it a go. HIGHLY recommended.
