Enemies have a series of gears under their name. What is their meaning?

I am in Chapter 3 - I have all three characters. I just had a battle with three enemies where I was unable to play any cards for three turns in a row as the 8 cards drawn all had 2 circle costs, and I only had one circle available. When I hit Tab, I got the same 8 unusable cards. I did have several cards with no circle cost in my card pool for the three characters, but they were not drawn from turn to turn. I had to retreat from combat. Help please....

Too drastic a spike, I haven't lost a single battle on Knight difficulty and now I'm 0/2 against Kleidon. Should've been progressively harder up to this point and SOMETHING learnable from 2 defeats other than "attack the little guy only". I can't think of any other game with this much imbalance(they exist, but I can't think of one), but practically all new games have this much lacking of "lesson learning" by way of tutorial or hint. Why are there no hints in videos games anymore? Like; "Kleidon is weak to...

It says he heals 4% of damage taken but me dealing 500 and him healing 530 is not 4%?
