Grabbing does not work
Trying to do the tutorial reveals that my Index controllers work fine, but the game doesn't let me grab anything...? I hold the grips to the metal, no difference.

I have no idea what's wrong but the best place to ask is the neos discord https://discord.com/invite/neosvr

I have heard that the Linux version is more in a beta state than fully functional, but I haven't heard this particular problem from other Linux users. Most new users make the mistake of using trigger to grip (because that's how VRC describes it) when grip is actually performed with the middle, ring, and pinkie finger.

Turns out that the grip is actually a button. :thXD:

That explained everything other than why Valve decided to make fingers retracting be enough to lift an object in SteamVR Home.

Off topic, I've been hearing a lot about Linux SteamVR. Has it actually improved that much over the past year?

As a newbie, from my own observations, it seems that nothing's changed since 2020 (since the v1.14 build is the only usable SteamVR build). Newer builds crash and have many rendering issues.

However, with some tweaking, it seems to be a perfectly playable experience.

This is coming from me with just ~15 hours of testing SVR Home, Neos and Half-Life: Alyx, but even with the super limited testing, I think that it is unnecessary to use Windows to have an enjoyable VR experience.

Just make sure to familiarise yourself with common fixes and quirks first, this guide is a good starting point:
