*UPDATE: I FIXED IT* Desyncing Issue on Last Report. Please Help.
When I started playing the game everything was running smoothly up until I got to the last report. After the part where Ulala sings "La la la" the game and audio desync from each other and makes it pretty much impossible to finish the game.

Has anyone had trouble with this? If so, have you been able to fix it and how?
I've tried everything, I've set VSync on and that just makes it worse. I've changed the frame limit and it can't keep up with the music and desyncs it the game at the start of the report.

Edit: One thing I've found out while trying to fix it is that after Ulala says "Come one everybody. Let's go." The music starts, which is normal, but she says it earlier than she should which triggers the music which makes the music start before the game can finish panning the camera onto Ulala then switch to Purge. The audio is even off during the pre rendered cutscene which makes it impossible to legitimately finish the game without being able to complete the last triple chu.

I've heard that the game is meant to run at a refresh rate of 30hz instead of 60 or higher, and I've even tried that. My monitor isn't able to run any lower than 60, but I played it on a second monitor that is able to run at 30, while configuring the game to 30, but the same thing happens as stated in the paragraph above.

UPDATE: I think I have figured out a solution to this problem.

1. Go to your settings and select System.
2. Go to display and scroll all the way down to Advanced display settings
3. Select your main monitor and click display properties
4. Go to Monitor and change the refresh rate to 60htz
5. Go to the configure screen for Space Channel 5 Part 2
6. VSync everything should be off. Windowed optional
7. Change the Resolution to 120 htz (I think it can be in any size, I put my game at 1280x768 with windowed)
8. Have fun
Side note: These steps were for Windows 10, I believe if you're using a different Windows the Display settings should be in the Control Panel.

Note: The main screen may seem really slow, THIS IS NORMAL. Also, if the steps above don't work, I had my V-Sync on Fast in NVidia when I first tested the above steps, but I'm not sure if that changed anything. This may also fix the Report 2 Guitar battle with Pudding I've been hearing about.

Thank you!

You don't need to change resolution. As long as your refresh rate is set to 60hz in both Windows AND in the game settings, it should work fine.

I've heard that the game is meant to run at a refresh rate of 30hz
It's not 30hz, it's 30FPS (which the game will run at automatically as long as your refresh rate is set to 60hz).

Hi Guys, i know i'm a Year to late, but i just wanted to say thank you to you Guys for helping with this really bad PC Port. Now that i changed my Refreshrate both in my Nvidia Control Center AND in the Steam Configure my Game runs nicely with steady 30fps. Although there are some grafical Glitches here and there. But thank God, no Screen-Tearing so far. And that Cutscene in the last Report changes without Problems now.

So, thank you!

Something to add on as well, recently got the game on steam sale and game was running beuno until the last report.... if you have dual monitors, be sure both are set to 60hz refresh rate. Playing the game on a 60hz & 144hz monitor will still render the game well above 30fps unless both are set to 60hz.

Thanks. It works for me. But is there another way to fix desyncing Issue? i don't want to keep the refresh rate 60htz in Windows settings.

unfortunately, i haven't found anything else. i've been playing this game less often so i haven't really tried to find an alternate way. at this point all we can do is just change the refresh rate every time we want to play this game

Yeah, you just gotta remember to change it back after playing. It's a bit annoying, but unfortunately putting Windows and the game in 60hz really is the only way to keep the game synced properly.

Question: Was this patched at some point? I ask this, because I remember needing to jump through several hoops to avoid input issues and audio sync problems (like those described above) when I played years ago, including having to set CPU priority to low, and setting CPU affinity to only use two cores.

But today I just fired up the game on a whim, and even with GSync and the in-game settings set to 241Hz (on my 240Hz display) I'm not having any desync or input issues. Is this only something that manifests in the final report? I seem to recall issues throughout the game before, but am currently having absolutely none. I also don't remember the game listing high Hz support before, so was that patched in? Just wondering.

It hasn't been patched (beyond the original early patch which didn't fix the refresh rate issue).

When I first started playing this game I also played in a refresh rate higher than 60hz and thought it seemed fine.
But after extensive playing, it's clear to me that the game is a lot easier (and has timing closer to the Dreamcast original) if windows and the game are both set to 60hz.
So basically, yeah you can play in a higher refresh rate and have some degree of success, but it's going to be harder than if you don't. Especially with the more difficult sections of the game.

I'm just curious, because back then, I had to use the CPU affinity settings to even get input to register in real time. There was severe input lag otherwise. Now I don't feel any input lag whatsoever. It's immediate.

But okay I'll set it to 60Hz and see how things feel. Thank-you.

Edit: Well, this is odd, but changing to 60Hz brought back the audio desync and input lag issues I had years ago. I experimented with every combination of display adapter and monitor settings as well as in-game settings, ensuring both were always the same (and also trying asynchronous settings,) and the only setting that works for me is keeping Gsync enabled rather than a fixed refresh rate. Maybe it's just my display? At any rate, 240Hz Gsync works for me (for the moment.)

As far as I'm aware, the game will only run with the correct sync at 30fps. And the game is coded to for the fps to be half of the refresh rate.
So in theory, if your refresh rate isn't 60 then the game will not be synced correctly.

Maybe I'm wrong, but that's my understanding of it anyway.

As near as I can tell, and from my memory of having played years ago, that should be the case. And it appears to indeed still be the case for many players. Which is why I'm so baffled as to how that isn't what's happening for me currently. The only thing I've changed since then is my display (I went from a fixed refresh rate 75Hz display to a modern 240Hz variable refresh rate display.)

And for whatever reason, running at 60Hz no longer works for me. Fps slowdowns, audio desyncs, etc. The only way I get it to run fine, is with Gsync enabled, and with the game set to 241Hz in the configuration options. *Shrug* I'm as perplexed by this as anyone else. That's why I was asking if it had been patched, but evidently not.

You need to set windows refresh rate to 60hz, and also in game settings to 60hz.
