The Sims™ 3

Should I get this game?
It seems really cool but I keep hearing people saying it's incompatible with modern hardware, saves get corrupted, there are data leaks and stuff. Is it actually THAT bad or blown out of proportion though? And are there any solutions or fixes?

While the game seems really cool, I don't really wanna face a lot of headache to play it.

It’s worse without limiting your fps with your graphics card dashboard your game will melt your graphics card because the in game fps has no limit and vsync doesn’t work. You have to use various mods and edits to the graphic rules file. Wether it’s worth doing the fixes and following the many helpful guides is up to you. The only thing gameplay wise sims4 does arguably better is the multitasking and making mods is a lot easier whatever you decide happy simming

It's blown out of proportion. Just watch or read guides about how to get the game up and running. More or less, they'll tell you to do the following:

1. Download GPU Sims 3 Support Mod from Nexus Mods
2. Limit your GPU's FPS to 60
3. Make sure to upgrade your graphics driver
4. Play in borderless window mode

There's other stuff, but it's nothing too complicated.

It depends really on what you tolerate. There are a few core mods that you should use but they pretty much fix the problems with most of the game, at most it's a 30 minutes or less process on the tutorials you go off of - that and finding mods you want.

The game doesn't go any higher than 60Hz but I've been playing this just fine at both 1440p and currently 4K rig with this. It has worked on Windows 10 and currently working just fine on Windows 11 for me. The only problem I find (just on my side of display) is HDR problems at times but that varies if that even affects you or not.

It isn't a perfect sims, it does has flaws but it has features that The Sims 4 wishes it has.

I'll admit I had some extra trouble getting the game to run for me when I first bought it, compared to all of my other games. However, it is a really amazing game, and has gotten better over the years with each DLC I've been able to purchase.

I have a gaming rig, but I've limited the fps to 30 for this game and a bunch of my other older games, and that has removed quite a few "bugs" that the game used to have.

The guide I recommend the most these days is:

I used to recommend some Island Paradise guides, but it turns out all I had to do with my first family on that World was move the houseboat families to inland homes and delete the Scott family (that also lives on a houseboat).

You don't have to read Cruinne's entire guide, just peruse the topics list and read whatever seems to apply to your situation. Some items may be a little outdated, and I have never needed any mods, especially after reducing the fps to 30, but most of the guide has some very good pointers.

This next one is also good for just launching the game. It will do a cleanup of the extra stuff that accumulates in certain cache files before it launches the game.

Also, see this thread for tips on launching the game with Windows 11 if you have trouble getting the game to run.
