How to Create Your Own Mods Guide/Tutorial
I have written a guide on creating mods for RWBY: Grimm Eclipse.

This guide can be found on the wiki:
http://grimmeclipse.wikia.com/wiki/Creating_Your_Own_Mods (not updated yet)

Steam guide (same as above but in steam):
http://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=954097543
Not sure if the guide is clear enough on every topic yet, I will edit and explain more as I get questions.

If you want to know if a mod has already been made, take a look at the Masterpost for mods.
http://gtm.you1.cn/app/418340/discussions/6/1473095965284275793/

Any questions are welcome.

Thanks for the info! Didn't know you could live edit textures with the game open! That'll save a bunch of time launching the game, and marking things off. (I usually put colored dots all over the texture and keep a list of what dot is what part of the model)

Once I get past moving in a week I'd like to get back to working on textures for sure.
Just wanted to make an update here since I missed some important points on Custom Maps part.
and forgot to mention the /printSound in SoundPacks part.
This is now added/fixed.

I feel like I should post that if you're struggling to comprehend the steam guide version, try using the wikia version, as a few people have actually formatted that one for better legibility

I've been meaning to reformat the steam guide version
Alright, figured I'd ask here, but is there a good way to make textures transparent? I tried erasing them, but I get a weird sort of missing texture thing going on.

Not sure the game supports transparency for all textures.
Try with half transparency and see what happens then.
Also "weird sort of missing texture" what is that.

I'll futz around with it tomorrow/after sleeping to check (3:30am here), but will give the half transparency a shot. It's better than nothing for sure.

The weird sort of missing texture is pretty much almost black, but depending on the angle and 3D models around it, it changes a bit, usually to a super dark purple. It acts like a typical purple missing texture, but doesn't look like it at all. (Bright and checkerboardy, ya know?)

Try erasing part of an existing texture (I did it with Ruby's cape made transparent) and you should see what I mean. I ran into it while trying to get rid of something on Ren's jacket, but eventually gave up and worked around it a few months back.
Transparency isn't something that works with the textures that have to do with the models, that I can say// When you try to make it transparent, it turns black at certain angles, and transparent in different angles-- That's all I know though! ( Half transparency with the model textures end up with either transparent or the solid colour )

Ah, thanks for the info! Still going to be stubborn and try half transparency, but if it doesn't work I don't need to stress since it just doesn't work.

Edit: Half transparency isn't supported, at least on the default ruby texture.

Does anyone know if someone uploaded the textures for the Timeskip/Pajamas DLCs? I was thinking of doing something with them.

(Sorry for the wait)
Hello gvk, I was trying to build a plugin, and loaded up your example. But when I tried to build it I get the following. (I referenced the dlls. I'm using visual studio 2017)
Error Parameter "SearchPaths" has invalid value "D:\Steam\SteamApps\common\RWBY_GE\rwby-ge_Data\Managed\eplyCount>__2.winmd". Illegal characters in path. ExamplePlugin

That example is most likely a bit too old by now I guess. I should update it...

Either way, that seems like a strange error.
I think you can solve that by:
1. Verify game files in Steam. (get fresh non-modded files)
2. Copy the DLLs you need to reference and move them to another folder.
3. Use the copied ones as references.
(btw make sure you target .net 3.5)
Try that and see if it works.

I changed out the Assembly-CSharp into its own folder after verifying the game files. Now it builds. Thank you
Salutations!

I need help in acquiring any files associated with the core game. I need this in order to add more stuff to the game. I am a man with high ambitions for modding this game, any help is appreciated.

Best Regards,

Rok Stronk
