I was expecting a janky ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
By the time game became budget Splinter Cell/Metal Gear for a chapter, I was already entranced by the story, characters and conspiracy surrounding it all....

I'd recommend it, but to be fair - game is janky.
And short (sub 4h). There's practically no filler there though, so it's easy to sink in and beat it in one sitting,

When I first immediately started the game, I instantly thought its gonna be like your typical Japanese horror game with your typical joshi kousei encountering spooky ghosts. The first couple that you encounter did jump scare me. But then as I progressed further (and mind you this is the first mission), and next thing I notice is that this is not your typical horror spooky game and boom I'm immediately shooting spirits with a Howa Type 20 assault rifle and impaling them with a gravestone lolololol.

The jokes and breaking the 4th wall references are spot on and absolute hilarious. Straight up traditional Japanese humor is peak here. It's extremely impressive on how much detail the dev put into this game. Collision with the gun when getting to close to objects like walls or the ground and how the character model actively manipulates the position of the gun and her arms is just extra detail goodness and I love it. The game is criminally short, you can beat this in like 4 hours. This would have been better if it was longer and had more missions. I always prefer a longer story and campaign.

Now I do have a few areas that need improvement:

1: Better gun sounds. They're pretty bad especially with the belt fed guns. The suppressed sounds are good though.

2: Rework the grenade throwing. I've had countless times where the player model throws the grenade but it ends up bouncing off a pillar or something that's just off to my left, even though the target that I'm aiming at is far away from said pillar and the grenade ends up bouncing back to me. You absolutely have to move completely out of the way and over expose yourself to the enemy's line of fire. Also you shouldn't have to aim your weapon just tor throw a grenade. It's counter intuitive. A throw arching indicator would have been nice as well.

3: Make it so you can ADS with assault rifles, battle rifles, light machine guns, and pistols. The over the shoulder aiming is nice and all but there are those constant times where I need to look down my through optics or irons to make precise shots. Which leads me to my next point:

4: Put fire selector switch for applicable gun. Full auto is nice but I need a dedicated semi auto. There's only so much effective "manual single shot through full auto setting" I can do. Make it so I can switch from semi to full auto on applicable weapons.

5: Melee is awkward. Both the melee only fighting segments as well as when hitting enemies when you're reloading and they get too close. It just feels horribly off and a lot of time I can't tell if I'm actually hitting them. Not to mention attack animations are really off, especially the one with the spiked bat. The animation showed my character swing once but somehow I hit the target 3 times...

6: This game is absolutely crying for VOICE ACTING. There's plenty of great seiyū out there. Find them and get them to do voices for all the lines for all the characters!

So yeah I'm enjoying the game and I would recommend it to you to try. I will say though that there is that overused trope of literally letting one of the significant antagonists literally walk away only to counter attack you immediately after. That made me groan in frustration. Typical anime ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, but then again, this game is incredibly self-aware so that could just be a joke and making fun of it all.

All this game needs is a bit of cheesy voice acting to be near perfect B horror movie material.
Tad bit of reading and some sections of dialogue tend to drag on but it was entertaining enough even had some comical sections that helped the sections through. Story gets serious as the game goes on but still holds onto the comical parts as much as possible.
Gun play was decent enough to get a pass on the bit of jank it has. Its not the best but not the worse.
Game gets a recommend for me.
