Security: The Horrible Nights has now been out for a week, and a lot has happened!
It's been a crazy week! We want to share what has happened, what’s going to happen, and say thank you.

We're thrilled to hear that many of you have enjoyed the game! That’s why we make games. :)
Thanks to everyone who reviewed the game, and a special thank you to those who mentioned in your reviews which story you liked best—because we’re curious. Thanks also to everyone who has shared the game with others. It’s tough to get noticed as a small indie developer, so we deeply appreciate your support. <3

The game is now version 1.10

We believe we’ve fixed the bugs you’ve reported. Thank you for your feedback! (And we’re ready to fix more if you encounter any!)

We’ve been watching, listening, and reading about your experiences with the game, and based on that, we’ve made several small adjustments and additions to improve the experience. Some examples include:

• You can now also hold down SHIFT to run.
• Instead of needing to hold the run button for 5 seconds to run extra fast, you now only need to hold it for 3 seconds.
• We’ve clarified certain things/events that some players missed.
• SPOILER: We’ve made your patients behind the red door move 20% faster.

Other interesting things that have happened

• Over 4000 stories have been survived!
• Boshea has created The Security Survival Guide, so help is now always within reach! (Find it under Guides here on Steam.)
• We still haven’t seen anyone steal a drink from the boss’s minibar in his office. (You’re obviously very well-behaved.)

What happens next?
We’ll, of course, continue fixing bugs reported in the bug thread here on Steam.

The soundtrack for the game will be released in a week!

We’re also working on the first free DLC, featuring stories by horror experts. We’ll be interviewing Mathias Clasen, a horror researcher at Aarhus University and author of A Very Nervous Person's Guide to Horror Movies, which explores research on how horror affects us. Interestingly, there are many positive effects of experiencing horror. Be sure to wishlist the DLC to get notified when it releases early next year.

The second free DLC will feature stories based on fan ideas. If you have a horror story idea you’d like to see in the game, there’s a link here to submit it for consideration.

Did you run into a bug?

Game updated to 1.03 (11/16/2024) Did you run into a bug? Let's fix it! If an error message pops up, copy it or take a picture of it and post it here in the thread. Then we can probably easily fix the problem. Write what story you experienced the problem and where you were. That will help us. We are a small team. We put a lot of energy into finding bugs and fixing them, but sometimes we miss things. That's why we're ready to fix the bugs we might have missed....

We can now announce our 3 horror experts for the first free DLC!
ManlyBadassHero - Alpha Beta Gamer - The Mason Scale

ManlyBadassHero is known for his deep voice and many let's plays of indie horror games. He's someone who really spends many hours on a game to find all its secrets. He has previously played both our The ER: Patient Typhon and Anglerfish, and through that we have gotten to know him. We made a unique little version of Anglerfish tailored just for him, to see what happens when you make a game for just one player. If you don't already know this entertaining man, the video of the game for him is a good place to start. It's an honor to turn his ideas into a horror game story.

Alpha Beta Gamer has been a champion of indie games for many years, both through the ABG website and ABG’s no comment let’s plays videos. Not many have seen more indie horror games than ABG. It was also ABG that was the first major gaming media to pick up our little horror game The ER, the predecessor to The ER: Patient Typhon. Due to ABG's coverage of the game, the game got a boost and ended up being the most popular game on Itch.io for a week, and even Markiplier picked it up. It's therefore special for us to do a story ABG wrote.

The Mason Scale has a small horror analysis and horror review YouTube channel. We don't know of anyone who has analyzed more horror games than him, and he is our personal favorite horror game reviewer. We don't always agree with him, but he always argues his opinions so well that we can always see something in them and respect them. If you're a horror fan, do yourself a favor and check out his channel.

We're still working on getting a extra little surprise into this DLC that you'll never guess.

After this DLC we will make the second free DLC, which will be based on ideas from the players. Link to it here if you would like to share an idea for that DLC:

Saved the entire hospital from certain doom several times over and I still make minimum wage and have less authority than a barista

Picked this game up because the concept of a security guard yelling "Hey" to fix things was pretty funny.

Genuinely enjoyed the creep factor and the thought put into the different scenarios. Did a great job subverting my expectations.

Went through most of the stories not realizing you could sprint, so when it was added to shift it became helpful to finish the ones I was too slow to do.

10/10 game, would recommend if you like horror/thriller style games.

We've read through over 500 horror ideas from you through our Discord, the game's Steam page, and Manly Badass Hero's video playing the demo.

We selected over 70 ideas and turned them into 4 unique horror stories. You can try them out now in the free prologue called Security: Stories by the fans:

We will make more stories based on fan ideas. There are several here on the game's Steam page that we already really like and would love to do that we couldn’t fit in the prologue. So, it's still possible for you to get your idea into the game! You have the best chance of getting your idea included if you answer the questions in this thread:

Short, precise ideas are more likely to be included than long, detailed descriptions.

We will make a free DLC with more stories based on fan ideas after we release Security: The Horrible Nights in November. The more wishlists we have, the more additional stories we can make. So, remember to wishlist the game and maybe get a friend to do the same. ;)

It's been both fun and challenging to create the four stories based on fan ideas. We can't wait to read what else you come up with!

Nothing Happening in my Third Story

Now, it is entirely possible that I am just stupid and completely missing something obvious, but I am stumped here. After (failing spectacularly at) the first two stories, my third story seems to... just not go anywhere? The only unusual thing I see is patients standing around unmoving in random positions. Like one in the babies' room, and a cluster of five in the middle of a lobby, two in a dressing room, etc. But absolutely nothing happens if I try to yell at them. I tried visiting every room I see an ...
