making simple bait with carbon will also help, there are other baits if you wish to investigate that further..
I physically cannot move my camera while fishing. this ♥♥♥♥ sucks
P.S. There is an Automated Trap that you can get the plans for at the Anamoly.
Alternately, change the difficulty setting for fishing to Automated (Fully Automated??). Using that difficulty setting, you just cast and wait for the "you caught a fish" popup.
I am not sure if those can be baited but they work. Used them in the fishing expedition for a couple of the required goals.
AdventureQuest 3D and WoW fishing was a lot of fun. I like it less here for a few reasons.
It's not really engaging in NMS and I've already sent an "Potential improvement" idea to NMS before on this.
Basically, you wait till the line goes green and press a button. It's all RNG from there. You can look up the baits and effects so you can maximize what you are trying to catch.
And I agree, fishing tends to be one of the least engaging features in games (the only example I remember ever actually enjoying was in Zelda - Ocarina of Time)
this.
As long as you can see the fishing line, then all you need to do is wait for it to turn green and go taught... then hold the reel button.
I find it best to have a snack or watch something while you do this as it's not engaging enough on it's own...
They don't require bait, and they do count towards missions.
The only downside I'm aware of is that they don't count as being caught in your wonders (ie, they have no size record)
If you want more than 3, you can use the wire glitch to place as many as you want at a base.
I mean i hated fishing in NMS too and was planning to play this again with a friend soon anyways so it works out, and im very happy to learn NMS has autofish. that said im very confused as to how i got so lost my post ended up here and not the game im literally actively playing right now...
I would guess in the OPTIONS menu.
Basically, there's a setting where you only have to click instead of HOLD to reel in a fish.
The NMS option is described here:
Fishing Timing (Difficulty)
If you want complete automation and go off to do something else or another mission, build the three fishing baskets and return later to collect the fish.
