Unity 5.2 Build, Improved dx12 support, faster linux, 10%+ fps improvement allegedly
We have only tested PC so far and not dx12.
use -force-d3d12 as a command line option

Linux renderer is now multithreaded and should run closer to windows performance if not better..

Unity 5.2 has a lot of performance improvements so you might see some frame rate improvements.

Mike.

On first impressions, haven't test extensively, I'm seeing around 10-20% improvement in FPS. Nice.

Well my game crashed on loading. Both with -force-d3d12 and without

On linux the game freezes up 2 secs when a grenade explodes.
I guess it's because there are a lot of guards that gets alerted and perhaps a few cameras getting destroyed causing a lot of new guards to spawn.
Does anyone else get the same problem on other operating systems?
It has been like this for a very long time for me and I have tried many different versions of the game.

Edit: I would also like to add that the HUD is blinking sometimes.
Not sure if it's because of the new engine or not.

Edit2: I played the game using the new engine from start to finnish and the only new bug I found was a guard arresting a civilian got stuck in a loop and never stoped talking.

Edit3: The biggest improvement was that I'm now able to use M as map key after setting it in controls manually.
The worst bug still in the game I think is agents and NPCs getting stuck inside walls/buildings.

Two seconds sounds like a long time. And I attribute any freezes to graphics loading for demolished covers. Maybe if you throw more grenades those graphics would already be loaded, and no freeze would occur? Because I don't think my 1.04.02 build freezes very often when I throw grenades. But it does happen sometimes.

Sounds like it's the same as for me.
I wounder if it's possible to work around it somehow so it never happens.
Perhaps it doesn't happen for ppl with more mem on the gpu?
I only have 1G mem on the gpu.

I have mighty 2GB on my GeForce GTX 750 Ti, so maybe that does have something to do with it. The only way I can think of avoiding it would be to preload graphics somehow. With the timer of a grenade it should perhaps be possible for the game to figure out beforehand which covers in the vicinity will be needing new graphics, and then load them at a stuttered pace while the grenade's timer is beeping? If it's even possible for the game to load anything without freezing while doing so. I guess there's a reason the game loads everything at start.

An example of the freeze.
This is not the worst case senario so I still hope someone will find a workaround/fix.

It's a lot worse when playing and wanting to do stuff during the time it freeze, then just looking at the video.

I might have had a freeze that lasted that long once, it's really hard to say. And that time there was also one of those low covers that was blasted to rubble, except it was a grey concrete wall in Dracogenics Tower (the lower part, in C.B.D). Definitely looks like it's the new graphics being loaded though. Or something else that involves the destructible terrain.

Noticed a bizzare screen flicker when mousing between icon/buttons. It'll have giant text, or portraits briefly flash when transitioning between buttons. This is under forced DX12 mode. Also when I mouse over saved games, a giant X will flicker on the transition between buttons.

I can replicate that problem as well.

ATI R9 285 with the latest Crimson drivers (15.30.1025; Nov 30th)

Additionally the game seems to crash under forced DX12 mode with SSR enabled.
SSR Off; Game Launched; Toggled on in menus; Game started; Crash; Game Relaunched; Crash[pastebin.com]

Toggling off SSR allows the game to run but with the above graphical glitches.

I've reported the problem through ATI's form[www.amd.com]

DirectX 11 crashes after a random time has passed.

Wasteland 2 is another Unity 5.2 game which seems to be crashing. Using -force-d3d9/d3d12 is the workaround there![forums.inxile-entertainment.com]

Hopefully a driver update or new Unity build can fix.

I get a noticeable pause when a grenade detonates. Not sure if it happens with other explosive yet, though I assume it would.
