Excellent game!
The art is perfect for this theme, the mechanics I have run into so far are fun, the variety of "events" are satisfying.
The game feels like a nice combination of Darkest Dungeon 1 and Slay the Spire... with B movie horror voice scenes. (in a good way!)
I actually like the "your car uses gas" mechanic, it is very much in them with location traveling in a board game, and adds a bit of planning to your delving into the three path decks.

This is a great game. The gameplay, story, design & soundtrack are all on point. That being said, I understand the critiques with this game so far. These are mine:

1. I don’t hate the gas mechanic, but it is another RNG punishment factor ontop of other RNG. (I beat the first boss & subsequently died as I had run out of fuel, not knowing the fuel carries over the 3 locations.) I like having to be careful about how you spend your fuel, but instead of spamming fuel stations between decks, I would have refuelled at the start of another act so you’re not locked out if you beat the boss with 0 fuel in the tank.

2. As much as I understand overachieving through enthusiasm, there are gameplay elements that aren’t crucial or seem pointless (at the moment). Sanity & frenzy (?) never seems to make much impact in my runs (yet), it removes the need for asylums, consumables, etc. I like the blocking, charging, energy, purple eye (?) & other mechanisms but the aforementioned need to either be made more apparent be it rewarding/punishing or removed entirely. That being said, I love how these mechanisms interact in some decks (converting block to charge, etc.)

3. The difficulty scaling. Yup, I don’t want this to be a breeze, & understand its roots are in Lovecraft. That being said, having the first act 2 scuffle mob deal more damage + status effects & be WAY more punishing than act 1’s elite foe AND boss combined seems like a major oversight. I took basically 0 damage in the first act because I understood how to predict & synergies my cards, & got owned in the first encounter of act two lol.

All in all, despite the critiques, it’s a great game with an invested (single?) developer who has been receptive & active on acting towards community feedback. It’s not a deck building roguelite clone in any regards & I can foresee it being fleshed out into something remarkable. I would give it a chance.

-18:00 PM, November 14, 1924, Innsmouth Museum.

Today I finally arrived to help the one they call the Head. The people in town, if we can even call it this place a town, look very strange and it smell fishy just about everywhere you go. My uncle told me to stay away from this "accursed place", like he calls it, but I just could not pass on the opportunity. I want to climb the rang of the organisation.

The Head is definitely a strange genius, yes, a genius none the less: "Knowledge is light, Moths fly toward the light."
Brain and Head seem to work very well together. For now, I work under Hand.

The constant earthquakes and strange sounds in the distance make me feel a bit uneasy.
The mayor was at the museum with us a few minutes ago, I could not really understand the conversation he had with Head and Brain but he did not stay for long.

I have just been assigned my first investigation ever. My car was filled with gas, I was given lots of freedom on where to go and when. My dog is as anxious as me, sits on the passenger, staying as close as possible to me.

Damn it !!! It really freaking hurt !!!
I just got into a fight with the locals. Those nut cases have tried to use pitchforks on me and my poor doggy.
The place feels ominous and the music on the radio creeps me out. I am starting to second guess myself about this one.
As long as I have all my health, my mind and the few pieces of equipment I was able to gather, I think I will be fine.
My best friend at my side, I feel very lucky. Lucky I am not alone in this weird town.

-11:55 PM November 14, 1924 Location Unknown.
I could never have anticipated so much would happen in so little time.
I am bleeding substantially, I can hear my heart beats and my vision is affected.
There is no way I am going to survive this. Was my last stop for the night....
Was one too many stops. Doggy is bleeding as much as I, we both know there is no way back to sanity, no way back to life.
I can only hope someone will find this journal and that reading it will explain my death.

Understand !!! This is not a game.
This terrible experience should not be endured by anyone else.
Leave ! Leave Innsmouth and never look back. The moths will burn in the flames of damnation. Just how much is knowledge worth. The price is far too high. Don't say you were not warned, Turn back before you meet with IT too.
I spend my last few second alive trying to save you from my fate,
