Problems with saving game files in conjunction with synching programs were confirmed many times in the past. Kentucky Route Zero even made an extra update to move existing files from the "My Documents" (also the default save location for Wolf Among Us) folder to their present location.

Also note "should" vs. "could" vs. "must"!
Please note that my first language is not English, however interference between a game (not) saving and a daemon syncing completely different files is very, very improbable. There is a 8 core CPU and NVME drives at work. With all due respect it is the same level of advice as "blow out the dust from your cooler". Thanks for taking the time to try to help me though.
I am actually not giving you any advice. I am only mentioning the potential causes based on the experiences of other gamers here and elsewhere. I personally never had a problem with some games not saving, not starting, or such, but my computers are also properly configured. Every computer is configured differently, and there is no instant answer.
This "temporarily locked files" issue is as old as the file syncing programs, and anybody who studied IT can confirm it to you. Is it a problem in your case is again another story.
The eight-core CPU and NVME drive are irrelevant to the matter.
Maybe your game does not save because of non-English characters in the save game path.

A fresh installation of the game saves fine on a fresh (properly set up) installation of Windows 11, on lousy 2014 hardware. No tweaks needed. As of today, 13:30.
