Backrooms Society 0.5.5 - Christmas Event

• Christmas Event is Live - Search for rare "Strange Gifts" across any level and bring them to the Trader’s Keep workbench to unlock special rewards.

• Constant Snowfall on Level 84 - Enjoy the festive atmosphere with perpetual snow.

• New Level 0 Expedition - "Level 0 Planned Expedition" is now accessible via the normal Level 0 door in the Hub. This smaller version of Level 0 features expanded lore, unique objectives, and partial procedural generation.

• New Special M.E.G. Device - Now available for purchase at Research Facility 8, this device offers useful features, including an "Exploration Status" function.
• New PC System - Added to the Metro deathroom, the PC system offers an engaging way to pass the time if you can’t afford a medkit.

• New Secret Minigame - Includes Steam leaderboards for competitive fun.

• 26 New Steam Achievements - Unlock exciting new milestones.

• Sound Design Enhancements - Significant adjustments and improvements across the game.

• Bacteria Overhaul - Updated sounds and new visual effects.

• Metro Level Upgrades - Enhanced visuals and environmental details, plus new content to explore.

• Skinstealer Adjustments:
- Reduced the number of hits needed to escape.
- After retreating to their "kill spot," Skinstealers will pause for a few seconds to recover instead of immediately pursuing again.
- Introduced new deceptive tactics to keep players on their toes.

• Level 84 Tweaks - Adjusted layout to reduce dead ends near safety parks and fixed a bug that made it impossible to reach 100% exploration.

• New Features and Options:
- Always-on microphone option (enabled by default).
- Hide UI option for cleaner visuals.
- Crosshair color customization.

• General Multiplayer Improvments.

• Bug Fixes - Addressed various bugs, big and small.

Regrettably, the 0.6 update will be delayed until later in January. I hope this update provides enough content to keep you engaged in the meantime. Please let me know your thoughts on the new Planned Expedition—should this format be expanded to other levels? :)

Halloween Event 2024!

Backrooms Society 0.5 - Trust No One

• The Halloween Event has begun and will continue throughout November! The Witch's Cauldron is back with new limited-time items and cosmetics. Halloween resources have started appearing in Metro levels—get in and gather as much as you can to craft the witch’s brew ingredients.
• New Entity – A new entity may now appear in Metro expeditions and has begun roaming the paths of "Level 84" and "Level 0?". Its entity page can be found in Level 84.

• Death Rat Weakness – A new item has been added that can distract the unstoppable Death Rat.

• New Smiler Model - A new and improved smiler model, hopefully a bit more nightmare-inducing.

• New Contracts and Badges associated with the new entity.

• Black Market in Metro Levels – The Black Market now has a chance to appear in Metro levels, but only if there are "signs of past explorers" present.

• Container Contents Label - All generic storage containers in the hub will now display an icon of the item furthest down in the container, should help you keep things sorted.

• High-Value Items – Items with the description "Banned trading item" sell for a pretty penny at the Black Market.

• Slightly increased max stack size of some small items. (Batteries)

• Multiple bug fixes and minor optimizations.
