How do you get them to work? I mean their career. I figured it out. They do it on their own. But when I pause the game I can't exit I have to force the game to close

I bought the table and chairs, the buffet table, the buffet foods, the indoor grill, the buffet foods and the snack bowl. I drop them on the refrigerator and they wont eat. What am I missing?

I sent one of the kids to get a collection item, it was in his hands (5 children all male) and I sat a bag of groceries on the table and he dropped the collection item and ran to peek at the groceries. Collection items should be priority. Adult male had a cold, gave him medicine while he was eating (stupid me) and the medicine vanished and didn't cure him. I had to wait till he was done eating and purchase another bottle which did cure him....
