DOOM II

DOOM II

Revenants
This is one of the most annoying enemies I've ever fought. How in the actual ♥♥♥♥ are you supposed to dodge the highly damaging homing missiles? It's not even like they have a weakness. Yeah they stagger when you shoot them but who cares when there's more than 1. And they have a ton of health. Anyone got any tips on how to beat the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t?

Now I remember why I hate DOOM 2.

Now now. No DooM hate here.

Revenants are a pretty simple enemy. The missles can't turn abruptly and ram into corners pretty easy.

Plus revenants have an AI code overide which makes them attempt to engange in melee when you get closer so instead of shooting you if the face like a shotgunner, they attempt to bop you in the nose.

using this tatic and a SSG you should be able to kill any revenant in any corridor.

When it gets into the bigger ctiys and crap, 1 word: RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN. Anywho. Hope this helped!

You obviously play on easy, or have never played Final Doom.

Good to know. Thanks!

Revenants, while being one of the hardest hitting enemies, they are quite frail.

using cover and wide movements makes it easier to dodge their missiles, however they can still be a pain in narrow corridors :)

Cheers mate they seemed to be an issue on Final DOOM the way they were placed but they're pretty easy on DOOM 2. Assumed it would've been the same way for DOOM 2.

The only thing wrong with Revenants is that their missiles have an unreal max damage value for a mid-tier enemy. I hate those bastards too.

The trick i found is to close distance quick, but not so close that they can hit you with their punches. Once you are within a certain distance, they stop using rockets entirely and try to punch instead. Simply stay in that sweet spot and there's nothing they can do.

You can bait them into punching repeatedly if you kite in and out of their range. Quicksave before you do so because it's just as easy for it to spit a missile directly in your face if you mess up the kite. After that, I believe 2-3 SSG blasts can kill them, assuming you're playing Vanilla. The Rocket Launcher and Plasma Gun can probably kill them faster, but I'd argue that it'd be a waste of rare ammo.

Starting to gain a little respect for the DOOM community. Thanks for the tips!
or you could run up close to them and use the chainsaw
They can be annoying but aren't too hard to deal with.
Be aggressive, rush in close and blast them with the super shotgun or stun lock them with the chaingun. Either that or make sure there's some cover between you and them and cheese them with long shots.

That's why you should learn how to use corners in this game... also not every rocket are homing btw

PS: two middle range SSG blast should be enough

That'd be great if there were any corners to hide behind and the door doesn't shut behind me leaving nothing but an empty space with 2 revies.

Tell me, which map cause you problems? I always find a way to hide each times...

There's also the turning around technic but it's hard to pull off

I have two strategys for revenant hunting:

  1. At a long distance, take cover somewhere the homing fireballs won't reach and shoot off two or three rockets.
  2. For close combat, whip out the ol' SSG (Stupidly Strong Gun) and circle-strafe.

The plasma rifle can be used in both cases, but I prefer saving the ammo for arch-viles and spiders.
