Hammer Not Working
I'm making my first sourcemod, that being a portal mod and when i open hammer up and press new it says "Failed to load default scheme file. The map views may be missing some visual elements" and then everything is just black. How do I fix this?

This FAQ page explains the problem. Anyway I strongly suggest you to try Hammer++, with many improvements making everything simpler and faster.

Source SDK is broken since the Steampipe update in 2013, you have to use Source2013, and the proper version of Hammer++
"Game/Mod not listed?
You might still be able to use Hammer++ with it.
If it's a multiplayer game or mod, use the Source SDK 2013 Multiplayer download.
For singleplayer, try the Source SDK 2013 Singleplayer download".

how do i add hammer++ to regular Source SDK? When I launch the 2013 version it just launches a half life 2 demo thing. And my mod is for 2009 version. What would happen if i just normally made maps with hammer++ and just exported it into my mod's folder?

If you want to make a Portal mod you just make a map pack since the code isn't open source. You can find hammer in the bin folder. It's also where you would install Hammer++.

There's some tutorials out there on how to make a Portal mod but you would essentially be setting up an empty mod folder that has a gameinfo.txt that points to the base portal game folder for the dlls.
