She's helping a genuinely evil man in his plan to cull the majority of the human race. She sounds fittingly sad, jaded, and hardened. The remake is supposed to be more serious than the original; I'd prefer if she didn't kill the mood in every scene she was in by sounding like a phone sex operator. I won't deny that there are quite a few lines from her that needed a retake or two, but there's not a fundamental issue with her voice, nor is it at all appropriate to continue to be rude to the woman who did the VA work.

At this point im already used to, but i blame RE: Welcome To Raccoon City for bringing Lily Gao (Ada's VA) into the franchise. Obviously there were no auditions for the role of Ada, Capcom simply handpicked her because she was Ada in the film (for 5 seconds lmao).

She doesn't sound sad jaded and hardened, she sounds bored. I can criticize awful work, it's not "inappropriate".

You probably right, but i can't understand this casting tho, even the Ada's VA from RE2 remake didn't get the call for auditions...

It's not possible that a number of actresses auditioned, and they legitimately chose the worst one, that simply doesn't get in my head, knowing that everyone else is fine in their respective role.

You got this Ada because people thought they could protest everything in the world and only made it worse.

Companies have to worry about what sex someone is, what race are they and now what life style do they live. Non of this has anything to do with being qualified.

They changed the voice actor in Shadow Warrior 3 and people from that forum literally had a break down. They were openly saying in the forum as a group, how they were going to sabotage the reviews.

The damage is done, people have ruined the entertainment industries.

Personally I don't mind Ada because the game is good. Plus I feel there are such few lines that it's not a big issue. Never played the original, so I take the game at face value.

For all we know, Ada did her lines over a phone and left them on voicemail for Capcom.

Not sure why people get so outraged over Ada in this. Yeah she doesn't sound great but it's hardly the worse I ever heard, she's just "fine, could've been better". People acting like this is some RE1 or HotD level stuff, which is ridiculous.

My guess is the hate mostly comes from younger people who didn't grow up back when it was normal for games were voiced by amateurs, the devs friends and family, the devs themselves or just didn't have VAs at all. This also includes games that are remembered as classics now.

As for Gao, her so-so performance here probably isn't because she's "bad at acting" or whatever. Nor is it because they got an actual Chinese-American actor to play a Chinese-American character. More likely it's because she was given poor direction and/or she isn't very used to VA, which is a very different skill to normal screen or theatre acting.

Why do you people keep defending terrible voice acting work? No it's not "so-so" it's garbage, if you want "so-so" look at the rest of the cast, they're not great but they're not bad either, it's good enough, but Ada just takes me out of every scene she is in, I will change the VA to japanese when I do separate ways.

Yeah definitely, plus capcom doesn't give a ♥♥♥♥, this VA is almost as bad as the new Zack VA from final fantasy 7. Square enix got the og cast from crisis core for the japanese voice over and just got random people for the english one. We really need to stop buying these games tbh.

I hated her voice acting too but I'd say it's better to angrily point at Capcom, it's their job to hire the VA in the first place and it's their job to say "That's good, let's use it." It's also their job to try and be more constructive and telling her if they want her to try a line again with a bit more pep or a different tone.

Only thing I don't agree about are those bottomfeeders that decided to go specifically harass her, those people are actually really sad.
