Over Jump Rally

Over Jump Rally

I WANT THIS GAME!!!
I would even purchase it for consoles as well. Hopefully all 3 levels will be present.
Imagine an UE5 version of Scud Race

4 Levels... don't forget Lakeside!
And, yes, Scud Race would be amazing... Sega should revive the whole Sega Racing Universe, including Daytona, Sega Touring Car, ManxTT, and maybe a new entry for OutRun and Hang On!

Oh hey! This is the first time a dev replied to a comment of mine EVER.
You have done an amazing job at this; I often even just look at the screens and video. It brings me back to the days when Sega Rally was new in the arcade, and totally state of the art. Your UE5 rendition of this manages to produce the same experience

Thanks again! I really want to bring that sense of awe we experienced back in the days, but with new graphics! We deserve it, for our memories, and the new generations deserve it, to experience it. I see it as a way to preserve games.

Have you ever gave a consideration of remaking the first level of scud race, just like you did sega rally?

I can see myself finishing this game and perhaps consulting for other Sega titles, but I'd like to focus my attention on different genres.
But that's a great stage and you should give it a spin! Unreal Engine 5 is not as difficult as it might seem, you can pretty much find all those assets and put them together, like I did for Over Jump.

I have thought about it, but I have never worked with any game engines ever. I am literally at a zero for knowledge
Have you completed the other sega rally stages?

This is my very first video game project, ever! But I do have a lot of experience in photography and visual effects for movies, so that helped to get the graphics right.

I specifically focused on only the Forest stage, which had a good balance of challenging turns, various micro-environments, and different road surfaces. I feel it was the optimal candidate to try the gameplay and get a glimpse of the final product.
Also, the Forest stage was in the Bootleg Sampler, a free demo that came with the official Sega Saturn Magazine, where a lot of people in the US trying Sega Rally for the very first time.
I did a lot of pre-production for the remaining stages, so I'm go to start them. I also made the even area, which is fully explorable, and it's a nice addition to just the track design.

I think I am going to give this a try. I found a 5 hour tutorial for racing game development on UE5. The idea of potentially being able to make a game or a level of my vision is very exciting. AND spec the visuals to my current hardware as the lowest common denominator

Best of luck! I started with the Unreal Sensei 5-hour tutorial to get into the engine, then I watched many others.
UNF has one specifically for racing. I guess the one you are referring to is on Udemy, called Unreal Engine 5: Creating a Car Racing Game. I got it as well but I haven't watched it yet. It looked promising from the preview.
Check also Marco Ghislanzoni's channel.

This might be impossible for me at the moment. I tried to go through the tutorial and the engine. Every single step is starting from zero for me. My other ideas is Ark custom map building, or fortnite game building with the new editor

I started from zero about pretty much everything except the Post Process Volume and some concepts like Albedo, Normal maps, etc.
Again, start with Unreal Sensei tutorials, they are free and they give you a solid base.

Totally agree. Unreal Sensei helped me a lot when I was trying to figure out how to get my Blender stuff into UE. Decent tutorials.

Man, the video and the screenshots for Over Jump Rally gave my some good retro vibes. Thanks for that. :cozybethesda:

Can't agree to that. The video was really bad. You could see that the car was not really driving but sliding. Those impaird steering wheels in the front look really ugly.

It looks like the car is steered from it's center, not the front where the actual car steering mechanics are. Last time I saw that on the first Watch_Dogs. Besides that there is nothing really making this game stand out from tons of other games.
