Full Clear Review

A classic and quaint Point-and-Click/Room-Escape Flash Game series that's way more than some copy and paste port to the Steam platform. It not only combines his original works into one place, adds in a few helpful UI and a few quality of life features, but also has a few new layers of secrets and a new gigantic bonus area (which could be a game in of itself) that will test your exploration skills.

Fans of Mateusz Skutnik's works will very likely enjoy revisiting his Submachine series in this monolithic port to Steam. However, someone new to his works, or rather in 'old-fashioned' point-and-click games in general, might find it an acquired taste. For better or worse, while there are some good UI improvements, and slight updates to the original lore and presentation, it still has the occasional Point and Click issues of pixel hunting and getting lost on what to do next. Some people nowadays might not like that, but it does give that authentic experience people had when it was new. Thankfully, you can still beat the main chapters just fine with minimal frustration, but some of the secrets will require some searching (or a guide look up).

I would recommend breaking out a note pad for this game.

Another issue I have is the execution of what is called Monoliths in the game (not elaborating further). I love the idea of it, but how it was done was rather frustrating and was easy to miss. I think that was the biggest point of frustration I had with the entire game.

Past the typical point and click frustration, the game was all-in-all enjoyable. Though I have to say that the original chapters might have gotten out done by the new content. But the new content did have to rely on what was built by the old content to make it great.

It seems like Mateusz still has talent, and is still improving. I'm looking forward to his next Submachine game.

Extremely good. If you're a completionist, and you definitely should be if you're getting this game, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND taking notes, either physically or on your computer. Your cursor looks a little different when you hover over something that requires an item to interact. Carefully scan each complex-looking area with your cursor to make sure you don't miss secrets, because I promise, you will. Even if you resort to walkthroughs, as I eventually did on many Chapters, you will still leave this game very satisfied in the end. Thank you Mr. Skutnik, you really outdid yourself on this one. This was far more than just a remaster. Good luck getting all of the achievements, guys. It's work.

This is the best point & click game I have ever played.
