The Sword enemy in The Shrine is broken
Title, basically. I have no idea how one is supposed to defeat four of those in every other room and not lose the run. They cover the entire floor in hitboxes – completely undodgeable. Killing them also takes quite a while because they're airborne. Compared to literally every other enemy (including bosses), they are dramatically overpowered. I can take the Leviathan just fine and not break a sweat, but I shudder when I see not one, or two, or three – four swords in almost every room.

Any tips for those besides being good at the game?

I will say that, having played through the game for the first time with this update, the sword enemies at the shrine are the only ones I would consider frustrating. The blue laboratory bulbs are annoying to shoot, but they aren't very dangerous.

A lot of characters don't seem to be able to jump high enough to shoot them, and their collision hitbox is big enough to where I often accidentally bump into them due to the misleading isometric perspective.

Their ground aoe goes out extremely fast and has such a large hitbox that it's very difficult to predict and avoid it, whilst also leaving you very little time to shoot and deal damage to them before they reset into the air again. I sometimes seem to take damage even when I'm standing outside of the AOE markers.

They often spawn in multiples alongside other enemies, which doubles the stress of their massive aoe attacks whilst you are running from other pursuing enemies simultaneously.

They often take so long to die that they make the arena rooms feel impossible to complete in time. If chunks shows up mid fight it's even worse.

I am comfortably able to fight pretty much every other enemy in the game, but the shrine feels harder than the new dream levels, which is weird since it's supposed to be an early run stage that you use to loop your run quickly.

They are annoying but I wouldn't say they are over powered. You just let them stab the ground and then kill them or you can jump and kill them in the air.
If you still really hate them then theres some good news because the shrine seems to have no real purpose other than a couple achievements so once you get those you'll never have to go back as far as I can tell.
