How will I feel if I play this? Hit or miss?

Is there any way to retreat armies that you've sent to reinforce your allies? It's just that I don't want them fighting to the absolute death when an enemy starts invading my clan. Also does anyone else feel that allies are just an insane burden in this game? They request for reinforcements NON stop and because you can't control the battles you lose so many troops....
