At some point you'll need to move the engineering and fuel, though. Holding back until you have more than enough resources to upgrade Guadalcanal completely in one go regardless of freighter losses might be best. Try to arrive at 5AM or something to maximise night time on approach.
I don't know how consistent it is, but you can make AI task forces retreat for repairs if they have damaged ships, so landing single air-dropped torpedo hits (smaller/weaker than the ones fired by ships/subs; less risk of sinking something with a single torpedo, which is uncommon but possible) on everything might work quite well for keeping the map clear.
Or is your lack of experience the excuse for why you haven't even bothered...?
I want to clarify one more thing. Your "Nope" was related to my "Do you think this is possible?"?
"Related"? Certainly.
No. It is possible to simply load the last save. The purpose of this challenge is simply to show that the game mechanics in principle allow you to complete the campaign with such a condition.
I think your challenges would be tedious and unrewarding even without save-scumming.
However, I'll wait for you to confirm that for yourself.
Thanks for the idea - I am always looking at different ways to play this game. When I finish my WitP campaign I will try this out to see if it is possible or not. As I am using a mod, I will be using the Operation WT campaign from the TTE mod. This version is a much harder than the vanilla one.
id reckon you could do this...
keep flooding the required ports with troops and such... and you said without sinking, not without damaging or engaging with the enemy... so eventually you might be able to build up enough of a blockade with subs ships and air to continuously engage the enemy inflict heavy damage requiring them to go to port... perpetually
How would you comment on this?
his opinion is his, mine is mine. he very well could know something i don't. im not here to debate with others, i just dropped my thoughts on the idea.
