Unique crafting system, I love the NPCs and gardening elements. A good comfort game, easy to pick up and put down to play at your own pace with no rush.

An organic chemist's wet dream all in one game.

I rarely go into detail with simulator games because it's what it says in the tin, but the one thing that made me pretty interested in this specific game is the brewery mechanism itself.

The potion crafting mechanism plays like a map-planning game on its own: the ingredients represent the path taken, how you crush it determines how far into the path you take, stirring the mixing pot is walking the path, diluting the mix is walking back to the center, and blowing the bellow is triggering a whirlwind or the potion enhancement itself. Unlike many casual shop management simulator games, this game does requires a bit of mouse dexterity to brew an accurately powerful potion, and has a bit of a puzzle on its own in the path-making through ingredients. This basic part of it is very fascinating just on its own.

The other two things this game impressed me is how both the seller roleplay and the gardening is as simple as it gets yet enhances the potionmaking experience instead of being "another addition to the hassle". The shop is our main way to get gold, and you can actually haggle (with some mouse clicking timing thingy) with the people you trade gold with, while the gardening is just a simple way to get constantly available herbs and other ingredients. In the shop, there are also multiple merchants coming at random that offers us various items to spruce up our potionmaking experience, to explain it shortly.

The satisfaction of getting the strongest potion of an enhancement is quite similar to how it feels playing A Little to the Left, yet it provides its own puzzle for us to try to make the most efficient potions for what we want to make. I'm glad I'm one of the people who enjoyed these kind of games!

I think it's a very polished product but the core gameplay is just not that interesting.

Would I recommend this? Yes.... BUT

My motivation for playing this game came almost entirely from earning achievements. Very little about this game made me want to 'live the fantasy of owning an alchemist shop'. Gameplay is tedious and repetitive. Customers are mostly one note. Once I had all areas unlocked getting money was child's play. I liked the art and the idea was a good one, but I'm left with a very mediocre gameplay experience.

I COULD see this game being interesting to speed run.... but honestly now that I've got the achievements I will probably not pick it up again.

If you want something to waste about 20 hours of your time and get a bunch of fairly simple achievements, pick this up on sale.
