They've had to because the community keeps new players from buying the game.

New players spawn then die, so dont get to experience the game they paid for. PVPers get bored coz of the low pop, or stop subbing coz they're broke as they spent years playing MMOs rather than focusing on a career, then move onto the next game where the cycle repeats.

how do i claim my free 30 days? Because i played this game years ago and have over 100 hours? you are saying the 15$ sub that pops up when i try to login is a bug?

Damn I was about to log in and play and check out the 2 character thing but - for real I'm not paying for a sub until I can have 4 characters on an account and can log into 2 accounts at a time.

Surprisingly there's been a lot of new players joining and vets coming back. The game is fun it keeps me coming back for more and look forward to new updates. I take a break and then come back sometime in the future. The $15 is nothing it's a combo meal at McDonald. Surely you guys work to be able to afford that. Remember the $15 helps pay for operations, server costs and maintenance, and new updates and fixes. Don't think that this game will just run for free. It's a small indie company (not a AAA multi million funded company). So they deserve all the support they can get that includes $15 a month. If you can't afford that then this game is not for you.

There are only 1k "players" (not really that many, with all the alts) because the game is not programmed or supported to any level of quality (except bad). Plenty of dupes and exploits still around.
It can only be played "effectively" from Europe. In so much as the game actually works anywhere.
Not NA, Oceania, or Asia. The ping kills you. No melee for you, and magic is a joke for everyone.

Because of all of that, alone, the game is not worth a sub fee.

And that is just a bare minimum.

Yes b/c it's completely viable to keep servers running, pay your employees, and live your life while working on a game for free

I feel like this game would benefit from a trial system similar to FFO. Maybe introducing a trial solely for the Haven area of the game, will definitely encourage new players to try the game if they are on the fence.

Except from that perspective, new players are being straight up lied to.

Haven is nothing like the "real game": it is the least buggy, most functional part of the game, where no real PvP and ganking take place.

Then they buy the game, show up in the real game which is not at all like Haven, and get griefed to death trying to kill wolves over and over. Or trying to use the bank in town. And only if they are from Europe and not play the game with abysmal ping.

So, Haven is a "lie" and having new players pay for that and then play/get the (bugged af) main game is only going to piss them off more.
