Not 100% sure it works though. I've made a copy of the game's data folder just in case. If it does get updated, I'll replace the updated data folder with the old one, and hope that works.
That method does work but the instructions in that post are not very clear. You need to set the build ID to the most recent one and do the same with any manifest ID that got updated. This information is available on SteamDB.
If the update was already installed and you have a backup of the old version, then copying that backup over the installed update will also work. Of course, you'll have to repeat this process whenever a new update comes out.
To be clear, keep a copy of the backed up files that got updated.
Good catch. Updated my post.
Thanks for this but just a note, there were 5 more files modified in this update. It might be useful to add those as well. Also, the update modified these files in the optional language depots too.
..\Alan Wake\data\ep999-000.rmdp
File contains game data and the end credits track.
..\Alan Wake\data\ep999-006.rmdp
File contains scrolling credits accompanied by the end credits track.
These were the only two files necessary to restore the track.
You can also delete the new localization folder and files with no impact.
Do you know what the other 5 files that were modified contain?
Not yet, I have been replaying the game from the beginning to verify everything still works with only the two files replaced to add the tracks back. Haven't noticed anything quite yet through the end of Chapter 2 so far. Product placement is still there too.

Now I could say just copy these files.
..\Alan Wake\data\ep999-000-en.rmdp
..\Alan Wake\data\ep999-000.rmdp
..\Alan Wake\data\ep999-001-en.rmdp
..\Alan Wake\data\ep999-002-en.rmdp
..\Alan Wake\data\ep999-003-en.rmdp
..\Alan Wake\data\ep999-004-en.rmdp
..\Alan Wake\data\ep999-006.rmdp
Place them in a zip, and store them in your offline storage, or cloud storage, and whenever you want to recent the game to having that sound you just replace these files.
AFAIK mainly want these three files.
Alan Wake\data\ep999-000.rmdp
..\Alan Wake\data\ep999-004-en.rmdp
..\Alan Wake\data\ep999-006.rmdp
But just replacing all of them easy as 1 2 3, and there zero issues as well AFAIK.
