tl;dr the main game only gets good at the end


before the chapel the game is just boring, not even frustrating
the difficulty balance is non existent and the level design is really bs (random chokepoints in an otherwise easy area, forcing you to do the same thing over and over because the levels are designed to make you fall as low as possible, the game punishing you just for not knowing what to do the first time so you don't even get the satisfaction of getting somewhere new)


after you get to the chapel the game is actually really fun
the difficulty is actually balanced, you don't get singular near-frame perfect jumps after 5 free screens, you actually have a chance to save your fall, and even if you don't the game doesn't waste your time by making you fall all the way down, it's a completely different experience


i only played some of the first dlc but it seems to have taken all the cons of main game without anything that made the last three areas enjoyable and i don't feel like dealing with that again so i'll leave it at that
