BIG Urban Roads is meant to be playable for everyone! Therefore I try very hard to optimize my assets for a good performance even on older computers. All standard roads use one and the same diffuse texture on all elevations. If you're using Loading Screen Mod you can suscribe to many roads and the impact on your RAM won't increase much.

I use custom meshes for all elevations that are equal in terms of tris to the Vanilla meshes. Some (especially the slope) even have fewer tris. So don't be scared of the huge file sizes of the roads!

These roads use custom traffic lights. They are a rework of New American Traffic Lights by ol' rdtg. They’re fully functional but have their limitations in combination with TM:PE because of the american setting on the „wrong“ side of the road and will eventually show wrong colors. Then there’s a problem with T-junctions because the traffic light will appear on the side oft the road where your road is. It looks best when you got a 4-way junction and the opposite of the junction being the same type of road. But I think you’ll figure that out. But please don’t complain - I am really not able to improve this.

American roads don't usually have as many road arrows as European roads. Even on real big intersections there are sometimes only arrows for designated left/right turns. But if they appear, they appear several times sequentially. Therefore I completely disabled arrows facing to all directions, arrows facing left and right and arrows facing forward on non-traffic lights intersections. On Small Roads arrows are only enabled for designated left and right turns (2 arrows and 2 ONLY markings). For Medium Roads there are still arrows facing forward (on intersections) and arrows facing forward/left and forward/right. I am open for suggestions on this topic.
