Description
Glacier Fjord map theme has sand that looks like snow, so you can paint the mountaintops to look snowy while the rest of your city is still green. The water is calm, and can reflect whatever sky is above! Use Cubemap Replacer to do this - directions below. Daylight Classic mod required (or Relight etc mods if you know how to use them). You will burn your eyes without it.

This theme has custom names - 150+ modders, creators and streamers of our community are all around you. Districts, streets, growables and peoples' last names are all named for creators! The only thing I didn't finish was the residential buildings. It was already a huge amount of work put in, and I got tired :D

This theme includes textures shared by Markfire, Pdelmo, Ronyx69. These are modified, some heavily, but without the original artists' kind sharing, this theme would not exist. Others come from textures.com.

- Update 1: Lighting exposure reduced, Ruined, gravel, oil, ore, grass textures and water colors tweaked, replaced poor-looking 1024 pixel pavement with a 2048 pixel version of Ronyx69's Starburg pavement

HOW TO MAKE THE OPTIONAL CLOUD REFLECTIONS

In order for Cubebox Mod and Daylight Classic to be able to display the cloud reflections, you will need an older copy of Daylight Classic.
1. Unsubscribe from the workshop Daylight Classic
2. Download the older version here https://www.dropbox.com/s/t6i2lupfuif4ch7/DaylightClassic.zip?dl=0
3. Place it in a folder you create called DaylightClassic here: C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Addons\Mods
4. In content manager activate Daylight Classic and make sure "Classic Fog effect" is on, activate Cubebox Mod as well. Load your game, hit the Cubebox mod button, enjoy sky reflections in any theme that has calm waters!
5. Be sure Cloud and Fog Toggler is not disabling anything except pollution, or else you may have an awful horizon that is either dark or odd-colored.

PROS
- EYE CANDY! A bit more realism in the way water looks
- Lakeside / marsh / fjord cities will look great with the calm waters

CONS
- Must use Daylight Classic with Classic Fog Effect activated
- Must deactivate Dynamic Weather
- Cannot use nighttime. Daylight Classic will likely never be developed to be able to work at nighttime. It was planned but may or may not be developed in the future
- Eye candy purposes only - reflections are static and of the clouds only, so it does not reflect dynamic things like ships nor city reflections.

Hi, nope, you can use any LUT you like. Graphics have changed a bit since I made this, so something else might look better, even. I'll remove it as a requirement

Is photorealistic a hard requirement or just needed to function as intended?

Hurrah! I am really looking forward to seeing what you do with this! I think mine is still too saturated looking, but I gave up fighting with it and used an LUT to do the job :D.

Wow, thank you for this very quick and uncomplicated service! That's what i need! I also really appreciate that you make your valuable work freely available. (This is fantastic "free" as in artistic "freedom", not like "free" as in gratis "free beer". If I'm going to chance it and publish with it, I refer to you as original author ["Urheber"].)

Oh by the way, it worked! :-D

(Fine tuning of color, saturation and brightness is the next step...)

Thanks, danke, merci!

The devs just issued a patch, and one of the things they repaired was a bug with map themes. Perhaps there is a theme-related mod that now needs to be updated. If having the local theme doesn't work either, then unsub from any mod related to map themes, totally restart Steam and try again. If it works then, you know one of those mods now has to be updated because of the patch. Let me know if this happens to you so I can report it.

Hi Himmelslinien. That's bizarre! It just downloaded for me. Yes, you do need this as your base map theme if you want the names to appear.

To make sure you can use it, here is the original file which you will place locally (and also you can do what you want with the theme to make it your own). This should be foolproof (fingers crossed). Unsubscribe from this Workshop version of the theme.

Place it here: C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Addons\MapThemes

Hi Mr. Miyagi. Thanks for your great work! I love it!
I would like to use this theme on your Fjordland map. I've subscribed to it, but I can't choose it. Not even with (temperate) savegames. It is also not in the content folder (1774582619=no matches). I have unsubscribed and resubscribed again. Restart the game. But nothing changes. Now I ask myself, do I need a mod for the individual names? Or do I have to download the textures separately? Thank you! 🖖

This works perfect, thank you.
MrMiyagi  [author] 15 Dec, 2019 @ 10:28am
Hi fun.baker, unfortunately no. Rather than being able to import a list, the vanilla naming system requires you to enter each and every name individually (also for each level of the same building lol), so it would require going in and manually deleting each single entry. Needless to say, I'm never making another theme with custom names. :steamfacepalm: :steamfacepalm:
Try out using TPB's Theme Mixer mod. Pick another map theme as your base theme, and then add in textures from this map theme. Wild guess, but maybe the base theme will determine naming (ie default naming) as it does the other settings that can't be changed in Theme Mixer. Just might work.
