What do I need to make custom bodyparts?
Aside of game, of course.

You'll need a 3D program that can expert COLLADA (DAE) files and a paint program that can make PNG files.

http://www.blender.org/

You can make (model & texture) character heads and hair, and you can make (textures) character skins for bodies.

You preview them and upload them in game in the character customisation area.

For textures, I'd like to see default skins as template. The thing is we don't know how UV is set up for body models, so having access to default one would help, just like you can download default skin for Minecraft's Steve.

I'd like to make some skins as well. Can we have access to the model files at all? And some texture/material restrictions?

The default textures are models are available next to where the game downloads in the FightTheDragon_Workshop folder.

Exactly how difficult is making skins? I'm interested in giving it a try too but have never done anything like it.

No more difficult than making mc skin

Any polycount limits I should be aware for head/hair models?

As per the instructions in the folder, 500 triangles max, in DAE format.
Images have to be 512x512 PNGs

Sorry to necro, but is it possible to import custom scenery (or textures for scenery) and custom weapon meshes?
