What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The game Is currently Early Access because, as it currently stands, it is an early version of Spheroid, an upcoming 2.5d platformer with entirely different game-play, story, and art.

By publishing the game extremely early in development, I was able to gain the feedback and experience necessary to make the game better for everyone.

The new version will feature an updated design for the protagonist (the Spheroid) and a unique twist on traditional platforming game-play.

When the game's new overhaul is nearly finished, the price will increase and this version of the game will be moved to a publicly available beta branch which will be included with the main title.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I expect spheroid to be in early access until mid-to-late summer 2020. There is a possibility that development may last longer than anticipated.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Curently planned, but not guaranteed features and changes include:

* Fully overhauled gameplay, story, art, and sound design.
* Consistant semi-photorealistic, stylized art
* 6-7 worlds with differing, but consistent, themes, each of which will have 3-5 levels.
* better optimized code”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently, the early access version has 3 playable levels, the very first beginnings of a story (aka, a single cut scene in the beginning of the game), and nearly all the art/visual aspects of the game are free internet/ Unity asset store placeholders that I plan to replace with original assets.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“As the game develops, changes, and grows, the price may change and increase gradually.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I am completely open to suggestions and constructive criticism. Following my game development philosophy, I feel that when somebody doesn't enjoy a part of the game- that part of the game is a bug that needs to be fixed.

I also strongly believe that a game should never be difficult to get through- only difficult to figure out.

That all said, I really appreciate any and all feedback! It makes the game better for everyone.”

About This Game

(notice: the game is canceled. Do not ask for keys. original description as follows)

Hello, and welcome to Spheroid!
Spheroid is a game that you may have played before, but may not have seen before. Unlike most other games in the 'Marble Madness'-like genre, Spheroid aims to be story-driven and more visually varied. You wont see levels that are made from plain colored geometry with stuff occasionally in the far distance, but rather, you can expect to see worlds with varying themes which play a major part in the level itself.
each level has an "Activator Field" game-play mechanic associated with it's theme, making for a unique- but never overly difficult- challenge.
There are also no time limits or lives in spheroid, which shifts the focus from getting though the environment as fast as possible to strategically planning how to get through.
--------------
"What is a spheroid? Usually, a Spheroid is the term used to describe sphere-like, but not entirely spherical, objects. Here on the island, we use a somewhat different definition. Within our premises, a Spheroid is an advanced artificial intelligence contained within a spherical shell capable of traversing any situation a spherical object could possibly be in- our goal on the island is to continually improve the A.I, in hopes that one day, we will create the first perfect intelligence in the world."
