Why Early Access?

“Because your voice matters! Gym Tycoon is made by a single developer. I strongly believe that the best games are made by closely collaborating with the community. For that reason I have decided to make the game available early and set up plenty of channels like Twitter and Discord to listen and respond to your feedback.
Nothing is set in stone! Early Access allows me to let you try out the game early and influence the design as it progresses. Your opinion matters! If you have any feedback, reach out to me, I'd love to hear from you!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I think this is something that you and I should decide on together. The game is still very early in it's development stage, so the design is still very dynamic. On the other hand, I believe indefinite Early Access is also not a good thing, and at some point we should call it done. Its hard to put an exact date on it, but hopefully it will come out of Early Access in late 2021.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“In contrast to the (first) Early Access version, the full version will contain all the features that are still missing in the first version of the game, such as staffing, bars and wellness facilities. Next to that, certain features will get enhanced (e.g. multiple story buildings), and obviously anything we decide on together will be in there! The Early Access version will receive updates, growing towards the full version over time.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Primary gameplay features are implemented, you will be able to build and furnish your gym, attract customers, keep them satisfied, watch them develop and participate in contests. The current version will lack some gameplay features (staffing, bars, wellness facilities) and content (more furniture). Some features and content present in the game will have rough edges (e.g. missing animations). Finally, the game is not fully balanced. Missing features, content, refinements and balances will be added over time. It is possible that old save games become invalid between updates, although I will try my best to reduce these occurrences to a minimum.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The plan is to have an pioneer price at the beginning of Early Access. Later in the Early Access stage the price will rise to the final price level, which will not rise any further as we leave Early Access!”
