Back then, I took a stab at a book-accurate Minas Tirith and surrounding areas, but making a Minas Tirith hill that would also work with the limitations of buildings and network placement on slopes in the game made it an impossible concept at that time. I started making a Rivendell based on Tolkien's maps and descriptions, but that was turning into a huge undertaking and had the same limitations of trying to figure out a way to build on such a majestic location with only vanilla.
Today, with all the mods we have someone could certainly make an amazing Minas Tirith or Rivendell build, but I'm hoping someone else has the time and desire to make such a map and city build. ;)
Normally it's colorued entirely differently, but the colour filter I use (which turns the grass into pretty close to the real life colour) turns the castle pretty dark, almost looking like the Norse-style Rohan style. The next will be one that did turn from natural to an industrial nightmare in the movie ;)
Oh!!! What is the building you put on top of the hill in the 3rd image? Japanese castle of some kind?
