A Guide To Buying Items With Inara
By Hipsnowsis
Hello!
I'm doing another one of these! Ths is my third Inara guide in under a week - thus, I have no life! I'll make a thread compiling the links. Make sure to let me know what you think of my tips, as I am not perfect and could always use some friendly discussion anyway!
This might be a little shorter than the others as there is only so much to know about buying items.
Yes I'm doing this on my phone again. I'm surprised that I still have thumbs to be honest. I'm on holiday too - but this is what I've been doing all holiday (edit: I'm back now, that is relevant to when I wrote the guide for reddit). It's quite fun tbh, sharing tips and knowledge like this.

Defense
This is so critically important for Inara. I always go for this one first. Generally, you judge by the majority of the enemy team, as you'll be going toe-to-toe with pretty much all of then. Always go by the majority, unless there are two damages in the minority. So if they have Makoa, Ruckus, skye, Drogoz, Bomb King, go blast shields. If they had ying instead of Drogoz then you would go haven. It is difficult to judge, but it is based on working out who you will be fighting the most and working out who will cause the most damage with their moves, and working out which moves they will do it with, and moving to counter their moves. Remember champions like snek and Tyra who are direct damage but have lots of splash capabilities need to be considered as 50/50. I don't ever recommend illuminate and resilience is only useful in the rarest of situations. Unless they have Torvald, bomb king and pip there is no real reason to even consider resilience or illuminate. Even then, haven or blast shields are usually the better option, as they massively improve Inara's ability to sustain herself.
Utility
Every single utility ability is so useful for Inara, though defense is normally what I pick first. I personally go for morale boost most of the time, as it allows you to constantly have counters ready for enemy ultimates, and if you encounter a group of enemies then you can turn the tide of battle in an instant. Chronos allows you to have a lower cooldown between your combos and increases the likelihood of impasse being ready for a surprise retreat or to block an ultimate. In battle I often jump around a lot, and nimble facilitates this, allowing a lot of dodging opportunities for a champion nearly 2 units in height. Master riding can be used to rush a cap and get your defenses set up fast. Works great in combo with Barik, as the Barik can get morale boost instead if you get master riding.
Healing
This is always fairly useful. If we have a good healer I tend to pick up rejuvenate pretty early on. If not, I pick up kill to heal for squishy enemy teams and life rip for tanky ones. Veteran is pretty much useless as you have to be the forefront of the action as Inara. Can work against an exceedingly slow enemy team though.
Attack
Not really Inara's forte. Cauterise is always good to stop healing, and wrecker against Torvald and Fernando (together). Work out what to get based on team choices. It takes two salvos to destroy a turret so bear that in mind if considering a level 1 bulldozer. No more should really be needed as you will never have to fight Inara, Barik and Ying at once in comp. Deft hands? I've never really found good use for it personally, as her DPS would barely be impacted by it, and her reload can both be done in combat and isn't slow.
When To Pick What
If your team is double healer, rejuvenate. If theirs is, cauterise. If they have two shields (excluding those who place shields on the ground) then take wrecker if your team doesn't. In ALL OTHER CASES (unless you have a really good reason not to) take either haven or blast shields, whichever is better in that instance. Follow up with morale boost (or your chosen utility) (rejuvenate before that if your team is dual healer and you don't already have it), the heal ability, and tbh damage is last but I often don't buy it at all. Focus on leveling up defence and then utility, healing before utility if double healer, then healing, and only damage if you absolutely have to.
Final Words
OK! That's another one down. I'll do legendary cards next (or decks I'm not sure). I'm going to make a thread with links to all of these guides soon. Make sure to put any questions or comments below! Have fun with Inara!

@pintopaivam I was top with inara, so I felt she was the natural option. Maybe at some point in the future

@redback thanks for the advice, I usually go with an active healer and therefore I take rejuvenate, but I agree with the vet choice, but only if your team can support that retreat

Damage reduction stacks diminishingly meaning that when you stack up your DR Haven or Blast Shield are only doing like 3-5% depending whether Sacred Ground is active. To that end I say that buying Haven/Blast shield is almost never worth it.

Veteren is the most under-rated item in the game It's your best choice if you have no healers or your only healers are burst healers I.E Grover/Pip. Without Vet it takes 9.5 seconds for the full 1% to 100% heal. With Vet you will fully heal in aproximately 6.5/5.1/4.3 seconds respectively. Needless to say this is a massive improvement.

Rejuvinate is only worth it when you have a relyable over time healer I.E. Ying, Maldamba and Seris. Burst healers aren't good with Rejuv because abilities in question tend to have long cooldowns. Not to mention that Cauterise could make you waste a precious cooldown.

All that said, lv1 Verteren has much better value than lv1 Rejuv. But lv3 Rejuv is better value than lv3 Veteren in their respective scenarios.
