swconfig setup

Step 1

Before the correct configuration... Make sure that u run the swconfig.exe with XP (SP2) compatibility and as an administrator.

After that start the exe and do the same like me (showed on the picture )

Done! (But not finished )
swkotor.ini setup (use notepad )

In the main game folder u wlll find the swkotor.ini file .

Check yours and copy my settings. (on th pic ) Please dont change other stuff in the ini file.. And te main thing.. Dont forget to save it!

Done!

Steam setup
This is an important thing... If u dont do it, this can broke the game as well...

U need to disable the steam overlay in the game.

Right click on the game in steam.... properties....

Now disable the overlay....

Done!
Some extra help :)
Use the max resolution what is available.

If u dont use hardware mouse and disabe video (intro only.. ) ...U will have no problem to run the game :)

I hope I did help ^^
Last solutions....
If u still have the problem...

in the swkotor.ini file disable the soft sadows ... modify the 1 to 0.

V-sync .... if u have problem to run the game without this option... then set the value from 0 to 1. (Enable this future )

Extra information...
MaxtorMeow did posted me som other thing..

this is known to cause game crashes on startup:
-disable soft shadows (set them to 0)

*V Sync - although it may cause startup game crashes (but only rarely is this the cause of the crash) I would advise that you DON'T turn it off because a bug may appear which will make your character unable to move after certain combat situations.
Latest suggestions
-disable soft shadows (set them to 0)

*V Sync - although it may cause startup game crashes (but only rarely is this the cause of the crash) I would advise that you DON'T turn it off because a bug may appear which will make your character unable to move after certain combat situations.

I didn't mean to say your computer isn't able to run the game, but soft shadows are known to crash the game even if the player has a computer configuration that is able to run (for example) Battlefield 1 on extra graphic settings. :steamhappy:

Thanks for posting the guide! Many people need help with running this game and you did a good job explaining everything, but please add this to your guide because this is known to cause game crashes on startup:
-disable soft shadows (set them to 0)

*V Sync - although it may cause startup game crashes (but only rarely is this the cause of the crash) I would advise that you DON'T turn it off because a bug may appear which will make your character unable to move after certain combat situations.

Once again, good work and thanks for the guide! :DD
