It has been a while since I played this game, but at the notes I took back then, there was a point in the final stages of the game where an end-of-level-boss is basically undefeatable until all party members are promoted to Knight. And that took a large amount of grinding. I'm not sure if this was also the case for the Himekami fight, though. It may be that Ran's "Knight Shield" move is enough to make the Himekami fight doable.
My only gripe is that I can't seem to find Kisaragi's 2nd Bond Skill so a lack of hidden chests on the maps would have been really nice.
