Introduction
There is already a fine guide on completing all achievements in Apotheon by Gunderson Mallard (here) and I want to give full credit for this work as without it this guide would not have been possible. However, this does not give all the locations for the lockboxes or chests required for two of the achievements:

  • A Hero's Due (for finding all of the lockboxes)
  • Divine Wrath (for finding all the special weapons).

As I could not find a guide to these locations while playing the game myself, I thought I would put one together. While the lockboxes are identified on the Local Map on each level, some are harder to locate than others. The aim of this guide is to provide helpful tips on locating them all. Not only do they lead to two achievements, they also make completing the game a lot easier!

On the Local Map lockboxes are identified by the icon that looks a little like a sofa. Once emptied the icon disappears. The icon can have three colours:

  • Green: unlocked and unopened
  • Red: locked and unopened
  • Clear: opened but items present (e.g. if inventory was full)

Each location in the game will have a section in the guide to assist you in locating the lockboxes. As this is my first guide on Steam, any feedback or comments are welcome.
Village of Dion
These lockboxes do not count towards the achievements but there are four in the first 'tutorial' part of the game before Hera assists you in ascending to Olympus. These are located as follows:

  • In the Raider Ship
  • In the village (you will need the lockpick from the Raider Ship to access it)
  • Two in the Temple prior to the boss fight with the Tyrant.
Agora
There are 11 lockboxes in the Agora. Note that this includes areas such as the Sewers but not the Gods' quarters that comprise the central plot line (i.e. Artemis, Apollo and Hades).

There are no lockboxes in Aphrodite's, Demeter's or Dionysus' rooms but the latter does have a nice storage area at the top without guards where you can re-supply to your heart's content before enjoying a drink. The quests for Aphrodite and Dionysus rely on coordination rather than combat prowess and are worth doing before progressing to the main story quests.

Procuring the gear from at least some of the lockboxes in this area before proceeding with the main plot objectives is advisable, particularly as some of them involve little or no combat. So, in approximate order from easiest to hardest:

  • The unlocked house to the left of the zephyr station makes a good starting point (you will need to break the floor in the SW corner with Greek fire)
  • Once you find a lockpick, head to the Sewers to the locked room containing the Scroll-Keeper's office key and one guard; this will also enable you to obtain the Tallyman achievement when next visiting the market and pick up hundreds of coins in valuables to boot to help you buy upgrades
  • Remaining in the Sewers, there is another lockbox down en route to Hades down to the bottom right of the area (you need to activate the lever to unseal the door). You can obtain this without combat and you will likely pick up a number of lockpicks from this area too
  • The locked house beneath Apollo's door has no guards and the Symposium of the Sun seal. You need to hit the target in the bottom left of the house to unseal the door
  • The Abandoned House to the left of the entrance to Demeter's area requires a lockpick to enter but has only one guard and other loot
  • The Refugee Commonhouse requires a lockpick and is home for a half-dozen guards
  • Entering the locked room with the locked lockbox in the Agora itself above the Abandoned House will alert the guards whether you enter from the left or right. There is a Shield of Thorns on offer so it might be worth getting this and paying the 20 coin fine to avoid the fight
  • There is a locked lockbox behind a locked door in the market. Opening this will involve angering the guards at some point but dealing with them is quite easy if you use the blast mine you should have picked up previously and liberal use of Greek fire. You should also pick up the Guardhouse Key
  • This key is used to unlock the door to the Barracks, which is not shown on the map until opened but is situated between the two sewer entrances. When taking on the group of soldiers to the left you may want to imbibe a Flask of Warding in advance. Clearing this area gives you the lockbox and the Captain's Armoury Key
  • You will need two lockpicks to access the area to the right and score the second lockbox in the Barracks. Watch out for the sentries
  • The final lockbox is in the Armoury, now accessible with the Captain's key. You will need to kill quite a few guards at close quarters, as well as dealing with several sentries. You should also earn the Panapoly achievement.

Also while in the Agora you will need to obtain additional items to be able to access lockboxes in later areas. These are:
  • The Blosem of Artemis, which is gifted to you when you free the captives in the locked house all the way to the right above Demeter's door
  • The Assassin's Stash key, which can be bought from the Black Market Salesman
  • The Forest Stash key - see the 'Fence' achievement in Gunderson's guide
  • The Nectar Cellar key from Dionysus' house
Artemis
There are eight lockboxes in Artemis' area, which includes the Swamps. Again in approximately increasing order of difficulty:

  • Using the Blosem of Artemis obtained in the Agora, open the doors in the Sanctuary of the Nymphs. Fighting the Satyrs is not required
  • Head to the west of the area to locate the Hunter's Lodge and head to the hidden basement. There is also much free gear here and recipes are available from the Hunter
  • Completing the hit list from the Hunter's Note found in the Lodge provides you with three Trophies of the Wild. If you head to the top right-hand corner of the Forest you will find another lockbox (and the Master Huntsman achievement)
  • In the Swamps, beneath the entrance
  • In the Swamps in the centre of the map below the second door (see below)
  • In the Swamps in the middle of the right-hand side
  • In the Swamps in the bottom right-hand corner, using the Assassin's Stash key obtained in the Agora (Cloak & Dagger achievement)
  • In the Swamps, use the Forest Stash key to access the second door to the Forest of Artemis and the blocked off area. Watch out for the cyclops! (Fence achievement)

In addition you will need the Sigil of the Necromancer from the Witch's Hollow for use in Hades.
Hades
Hades' area holds six lockboxes. It is worth noting that the enemies in the Underworld will re-spawn with potentially alarming frequency, so do not dally as you proceed around the map. The lockboxes are found as follows:

  • On the platform between the two tall ladders there is a wall to be broken to the left containing a lockbox. And several skeletal guards
  • Above the entrance to Acheron is our second lockbox, easily spotted on the Local Map
  • The third lockbox is in Acheron itself; ascend at the fork and the bloody cave at the end houses the treasure
  • On the Local Map you can see another lockbox underneath the boat. Navigate to this location and you should see a breakable wall by a small platform
  • The fifth lockbox is also visible on the Local Map. Go down the drop in the floor and you should find yet another breakable wall. Go through here to the cave and your reward
  • The final lockbox requires the Sigil of the Necromancer from Artemis' area - follow the instructions for the 'From the Grave' achievement in Gunderson's guide
Apollo
Apollo's is one of my favourite areas in the game as it has a lot of variety to it. You will need to work hard for your nine lockboxes however...

  • The first lockbox is in the dungeon. Perhaps the guards should have hidden your equipment better?
  • In Daphne's area, after watering her go to the left and unlock the door
  • The Guardhouse contains a lockbox at the very bottom. You will need to keep dropping down through the floors to locate it
  • There is a lockbox in the main area up and to the right of the Guardhouse
  • Another treasure is in the Stables of the Four behind a locked door to the right
  • In the main area once more there is a lockbox visible on the Local Map which will require destroying the floor to access
  • The Stoa of Apollo hides yet another lockbox at the top
  • Follow the instructions in Gunderson's guide for the 'Party Crasher' achievement using the Symposium of the Sun seal for lockbox 8
  • Lockbox 9 also requires an item from another area - the Nectar Cellar key. Follow the instructions for the 'Just a Taste' achievement in Gunderson's guide.
Acropolis
There are actually thirteen lockboxes available in the Agora rather than the twelve advertised on the World Map. This is very helpful as the achievement for 'A Hero's Due' counts the total number of lockboxes found up to the total per the World Map, i.e. if you have all the lockboxes the achievement will trigger on the third capture in Zeus' area. If you've missed one and have the thirteenth from the Acropolis, you will not have to worry about going back to get it.

The thirteen are located as follows:

  • Start with the lockbox to the left of the door to the Olympian gates (you will need to break the wall)
  • You'll also need to get violent with a piece of the floor down and right from the zephyr station
  • The house to the right of Poseidon's door houses a lockbox and the Merchant Stockpile key
  • You use this key in the Acropolis market under the floor for two lockboxes (and the 'Demand for Supply' achievement)
  • The house to the right of the zephyr station has a lockbox and an intriguing note, sending you to the Bathhouse
  • The Bathhouse has a lockbox and another helpful note
  • There is a lockbox in the area below Athena's door
  • Fotis will kindly give you the Trapdoor key and this opens the area down from outside the market
  • The tenth lockbox is in the House of Kastor
  • The eleventh and twelfth lockboxes require the completion of the 'Message Lost' achievement - see Gunderson's guide for details
  • The 'bonus' thirteenth lockbox is found when you return to the house with the first Bathhouse note after taking the second one

In addition, you will need the Mine Shaft key from Hephaestus' area for a lockbox in a later area.
Athena
There are eight lockboxes in Athena's realm, split into three groups:

  • Four in the outer maze. These can be reached by simply studying the map and navigating to the relevant locations
  • Three in the trials area. Two of these are through one door and the third through another. If you have the grapple from Hermes' sub-quest this makes life easier in one instance
  • The final lockbox is in the battle area where you prove yourself to Athena with your skeletal friends.
Ares
There are only three lockboxes in Ares' area and all are in the single map view. The only one that may cause some difficulty is the one on the far left of the map.

If you throw a Blast Jar before going up on the 'elevator', it will explode at the right moment and open the door to this lockbox and you can enter the room when descending.

If you miss this on the first pass through the area, the elevator does disappear when the related objective is completed. However, you can re-enter the area and the elevator should be back again.
Poseidon
Poseidon holds the most lockboxes of any map with fourteen. The first two are in the harbour area; one in the open and one in the house to the left.

The remaining twelve are on the high seas. Using A-E as the horizontal axis and 1-5 as the vertical axis, they are found as follows:

  • Four in the A4 'Calm the Seas' (or D4 - see comment from February 15 2019)
  • One in the mines on B5 for which you will need the key from Hephaestus' home in the Acropolis
  • One on the ship in C5
  • Two in the cave in E1
  • Two in the tunnels
  • One on the Isle of Horse in A2
  • And finally one in the hold of the Euphemia - follow the instructions for the 'Treasure Hunter' achievement in Gunderson's guide.
Zeus
While this is arguably the toughest area of the game to complete, mercifully the four lockboxes are all easily reachable along the way and are all contained within the one Local Map prior to the ultimate 'boss fight' with Zeus himself.

Unless the ship moves, I found it at C4. Also, the Isle of Horses is B1

I'll be honest, it's more than 2 years since I played this game so you could be right. I tried to make it as clear as I could but I might have erred in this section. Thanks for adding any clarity.

> One in the mines on B5 for which you will need the key
> Two in the cave in E1
Correct

> Four in the A4 'Calm the Seas' (or D4)
This was A4 for me (1st column, 4th row)

> One on the ship in C5
This was C4 for me (3rd column, 4th row)

> One on the Isle of Horse in A2
This is B1 (2nd column, 1st)

> Two in the tunnels
> And finally one in the hold of the Euphemia - follow the instructions
Why not write that the 1st is B2 (under Isle of Horse), and the second is A5?

Thanks - long time since I played this now but put an edit in in case that's D4

Hey! Great guide.

Just a short edit that you need to do is at Poseidon area where you said A4 instead of D4, I believe. Might be wrong now since I have the game closed and no longer near that area but surely it took me some time to find what you really meant with those coordinates.

Keep doing the great job since this one really helped me! :gladsword:
