you can make it just like armor, but it states that it warms you up or cools you down...
next, if you notice that you have warm clothing in the cold but it is not enough to negate the cold or hot debuff, you might wanna find a way to craft or find (not sure wich) a Amulet Of Comfort
i have not been that far in the game, but i think it works that way (dont forget to equip the clothes
