Still an unsurpassed masterpiece. The new games have new graphics and lots of things added.
But this game is just so simple, so elegant to play. You can play however you want. Play mixed armies, infantry only, cavalry only, raid, colonize, develop areas. So easy to get into and just have fun!

so amazing still holds up to this day even though visuals have aged a bit i cant be the only one who loves the menu music and the visuals when you start the game most games have static menus where rome total war music captures it and also you can see armies going to war different factions etc it was really a masterpiece of its time

Still gives me the chills. Favourite Total War game of all time.
