Rocket League
Rocket League is without a doubt one of the most fun, competitive games out there. The fun gets easily destroyed however, by teammates who dont know what they are doing or simply dont want to understand the whole concept of teamplay. They see a ball, they see a goal and they just go for it, which is exactly the reason why they lose.

1.) First things first
You should practice the controls and be confident enough to use basic jumping and drifting. Dont be afraid to fail. There is no shame in trying something, that didnt work. The more you play, the more experienced you will become and the more experienced you become, the fewer mistakes you will make.

2.) Dont get in the way
One of the mistakes you should never make however, is to get in the way of your team. Pay attention to your surroundings and dont just focus on the ball. There is nothing worse than an ally bumping into you, or kicking the ball away from you. Especially when you are about to shoot at an empty goal.

3.) Know your role
Every round the game puts you in one of the following positions: front-left/right, center-left/right and back. Use your right stick to move the camera and see where the rest of your team is positioned, while the countdown is ticking. Go only for the ball, if you are positioned front-left/right. If there is no front-left/right and you are positioned center-left/right, then you have to go for the ball. The person assigned to the back, should protect the goal and should never ever go for the ball. Only one person should go for the ball and the rest of the team should stand by. Sometimes the ball simply stays in the middle and you have to be ready to jump in quickly.

4.) Talk and listen to your team
Let your team know when you want to go for the ball or when you want to stay back and protect the goal. When someone wants to go for the ball, you should respect that. Dont be an a$$hole and disturb him/her! Also if you say that you are going to stay back and protect the goal, then freaking do it and dont suddenly abandon your position.

5.) Stay in formation
Always keep a distance to your allies. The perfect formation is 1-1-1. You should be able to quickly adjust it to 2-1-0 and 0-1-2, when the situation requires it. But never ever do 3-0-0. 3 people charging at the goal and leaving their own goal unprotected is an instant lose, unless the enemy is really really really bad.

6.) Protect the goal
Never kick the ball back to your side of the field. Always kick it away from your goal as far as possible. The longer you keep it at your side of the field, the higher the chances are that the enemy will score. If you cant kick the ball away from the goal, kick it against the wall to clear it, but never try to clear it by kicking the ball from one side of your goal to the other side of your goal. You are basically giving the enemy a freebie.

7.) Pass the damn ball
Sometimes an ally waits in a corner, for the ball to get a better angle, in hope to score a goal. By waiting, you are giving the enemy enough time to regroup. If the ball has a bad angle, the ball has a bad angle. Kick the ball anyway towards the middle/goal. You wont score, but you are giving your team the chance to jump in and score.

8.) Move your a$$
Never stand still. Always keep moving, otherwise you are just an easy target, waiting to get bumped or destroyed.

9.) Become one with the ball
Dont go where the ball is. Go where the ball will be. Pay attention to what your enemy is doing and when they are about to shoot. Always be ready to jump and interrupt.

10.) Dont waste your boost
Dont use up all of your boost. Always have enough boost ready to quickly go back if needed. Once you reach supersonic speed, dont use up any more of your boost. You already hit the highest speed your car can go!

Those are in my opinion the 10 most important rules to follow. Its basically just common sense, but apparently thats exactly what many players are lacking. I also recommend playing the various training modes. Those will help you become spider-man.

All of these rules are common sense which so many people are lacking. They should be posted at the opening of every game. Number 6 is right unless your playing with people that know what they're doing which in my experience isn't very often. I've seen more goals scored by doing that and especially when passing the ball across the front of your own goal. It makes me crazy. The game is great if you can play with teammates that know what they're doing but how often does that happen? Thanks for the post. Bonecrusher1.

I feel as though the only thing I can firmly stand behind here is leaving the goal open. There is nothing wrong with following up your teammate for a good pass, but someone needs to be aware of who can get to the goal quickest. Nothing is more aggravating in a 3v3 match then a score because not one of 3 people stayed or pulled back.

Back passing is a perfectly legitimate and very valid move, setting up power clears and long shots while maintaining possession, so your sentence on never hit the ball backwards isn't quite right
