General tips for both new/existing operatives
By ommmmm and 1 collaborators
Guns don't matter, how you play does. Buying a top tier gun won't make you instantly shoot better, nor die less.
####The following are tips that could potentially take you to a higher level of performance in GITS####

--Hi operatives! This is my first guide, so please leave me some feedback in the comment at the end(if you liked it/don't like it, and why etc). --

Intro
Who am I?
-TwelveLs(-use to go by barcode ~~llllllllllllllllll). I've been playing GITS and other FPS for awhile now.

Why this guide was created
1. bring new FPS/GITS players up to speed
2. performance boost for existing players
FPS/GITS Tips
  1. Test your weapons-Note how effective your weapon is at close/medium/long range, your movement speed while equiped, note the recoils while aiming up/down/left/right. Knowing the ins and outs of your gun will increase your odds of taking out the enemy.
    • In GITS, take advantage of the shooting range whenever you buy a new weapon or attachment. I recommend that you empty at least a magazine at each firing distance before diving into an actual match.

  2. Check your corners-Much like crossing the road, do a quick left-right check to prevent yourself from being plowed by a truck. This applies to GITS as well. Often you'll have a Matoko(camo cloaked) player sitting in a corner waiting to pounce when your back is turned(personal experience ;C ).

  3. Check the minimap-many players neglect using this useful tool because they often tunnel into their crosshair. Make a habit of glancing at the minimap at least once every 5-7 seconds, or whenever you hear gunshots. Pull up the full map if you believe you're in a secluded area. Take notice where firefights are taking place, and decide on an entry/flank route. Checking the minimap will also prevent you/team from being completely wiped from a flank.

  4. Use your nades-They are freeeeeeee, every time you spawn they will be replenished. So chuck them towards your enemies, flash bang rooms, smoke the enemy snipers(blocks their vision).

  5. "Keep your cross-hairs at head/chest level.-Too many players move and stand while aiming at the ground. Use your own teammates as height reference". ---Tip by CHENZHO. This will decrease the amount of space your cursor must travel to a target, thus increasing the speed at which you aim.
    Aim for this:

    Try not to do these...

    • I've killed quite a few players who were looking down trying to pick up weapons... Walking over the weapon will display what it is, no need to look down!

  6. "Turn OFF your Vertical Sync in the options menu.-Keeping it on will add input delay and will make your reactions slower."---Tip by CHENZHO

  7. "Play with a good set of headphones. Hearing your surroundings will help tremendously." ---Tip by CHENZHO. A good set of headphones can pick up enemy footsteps and help you pinpoint the direction they're approaching from.

  8. "Crouching will help you to be more accurate, and it makes you a smaller target." ---Tip by CHENZHO
    • Use your judgement to decide when to crouch. Note factors such as distance, movement and who you're playing against. I recommend against crouching in close quarters, you'll literally look like a sitting duck(try strafing left and right to throw the enemy off). Playing against good players, crouching at mid/long range may not always work. Why? Your head/limbs will have an increased hitbox. Quite a few of my headshots come from my gun recoiling into the enemy's head at mid/long distance.
    • Use your environment! Always try crouching behind obstacles to hide your center of mass, this'll force your opponent to go for your head

  9. Aim for the torso-keep it simple guys, take the easy shots. As you can see from my profile, my average for headshots is around 16%(very low compared to other players). Probably around another 16% of my total kills are from limbs. I don't ever attempt at head/limb shots unless its the only part visible from the enemy, or if they are standing still. Don't make things hard for yourself, just get the job done ^_^

  10. Don't stand still-always be on the move, either on the spot(left/right while shooting) or around the map. Its always easy to pick off players who stand still or camps repeatedly in the same spot.
    • Doesn't really apply to Motoko operatives, standing still while cloaked at times can offer the highest element of surprise in GITS.

  11. watch your/teammate's back-be the guy on your team who check for flanks. Your KDA and your teammates will thank you. Much like checking the minimap, take a look behind you every 5-7 seconds. (or every 2sec if you're the last man standing in demolition ;p). Also, go the route where theres no teammates. Enemy players can easily flank from unguarded paths.

  12. shhhh-put a silencer on all your guns! The term "silent but deadly" exist for a reason. Giving away your location would be your demise as it lures nearby enemies. In addition, flanking an enemy squad would produce a more desirable outcome if they have no clue where you are on the map.
    • "If you're a more agressive player the silencer works against you. When i run around a map for awhile and can't find anyone i shoot a couple of rounds so that enemies come to me" ---Tip by Benchwarrior

  13. Be unpredictable - don't always take the same path, or camp the same spot. If you make yourself predictable, the enemy team(who are actually human beings) will pick this up.
    • story time: -This happened during a demolition match a while back. At the start of each round, I always rushed the same corridor and killed game dev Disrespect a couple times. He got fed up, estimated an approximate time that I would show up there. Next round, he launched a Batou rocket into the corridor. Sure enough, I appeared right on time for impact lol... I ended up not using that corridor in the following rounds. Moral of the story? Don't be so damn predictable. Play smart and capitalize on predictable behaviors of enemy players.
  14. don't push/block teammates:
    • blocking #1~~GTFOofTheWayyyy~~(Benchwarrior) if you have a sniper on your team covering a path for you, don't run in the middle(blocking their vision). Pick a wall to the left or the right, and stick to it until your journey ends with a corner or your death.
    • blocking#2 ~~GTFOoutOfThereee~~(Benchwarrior) If an enemy throws a grenade, your teammates are looking to turn and dip. But their character can't move back because you're sticking to their a** for protection or something. Everyone will perish because of blocking whether intentional or not. So the next time you see a group of friendlies up ahead, don't run right up to them. Stay a couple feet behind and watch out for flanks or take another path.
    • Pushing~~Don't be an a**h**e~~ you are one, if you run your character up against a friendly and continue to push them(often leads them to being used as a meatshield lol.. or both of you getting naded). Don't like being pushed in real life? Don't push others in the game.
    • Counters to a push- run to the left or the right to GTFOofTheWayyy(BenchWarrior). If you plan on casually strolling, then let other players run by you.

  15. Don't chicken out-usually the team with more aggressive players wins the game(not all the time). This doesn't mean recklessly running down open field and 360 hipfiring. GITS is a video game, you will respawn once you die(make sure you learn from your deaths!). Don't be afraid to take risks, bring the fight to the enemy team. This means strategically advancing towards the enemy to exert aggression. Be a leader for your team and take the charge.(securing corners/areas closer to the enemy, peeping around the corners) The first one to the fight usually have more opportunity than the rest to "secure" kills and objectives!
Operative specific tips
  1. Borma
    • Playing as: live to fight another day. Take advantage of his healing ability and wear down the enemy. There's no need to all-in. If you get injured, run back towards your teammates and heal up before picking fights. With this operative, I recommend an aggressive playstyle as you can afford to soak up a few bullets.

    • Playing against: you need to land consecutive clean shots to the torso, or a headshot. Otherwise, this operative will come back to haunt you within a few second.
  2. Motoko
    • Playing as: be one with the texture. I find that flanking can be done with ease when playing Motoko. I rank this operative as Tier 1 because it is simply hard to kill what you cannot see...clearly. If you simply stay still(corner) or walk really slowly along the wall. Your presence will be hidden from players until you decide to unleash chaos.

    • Playing against: according to the Devs, this operative has been the #1 contributor to my deaths. So far, the only counter I can come up with is to check the corners and being really aware of your surroundings(be trigger happy, shoot anything that moves).
  3. Saito
    • Playing as: prefire prefire prefire before the enemy appears from the corner. Use the enemy location to juke, out maneuver and hunt them down.

    • Playing against: If you think a player is wall hacking, and they are playing saito. Don't bother reporting him/her lol. Chances are, they are legally wall hacking with the character. Upon hearing the scanners, I take 3 actions:
      1. curse the bloody player(optional)
      2. nade/smoke and move away from corners(recommended)
      3. nade(optionsl) and clear the corner(risky, not recommended)

  4. Togusa
    • Playing as: go minions~ always wait for lvl 2 skill, unless you're the last man in demolition or the match will be ending soon. You can either run with your drones to seek out the enemy or cut them off using the map. Trick: the drone spawns in an area in front of you. This will work over walls, causing the drone to spawn where the enemies maybe camping. "Pay attention to the surroundings, the drones target one player and run past others. just because it didn't blow up doesn't mean there's nobody there. I kill togusa constantly because of this." ---Tip by Benchwarrior

    • Playing against: very easy to deal with actually. When the drones jumps over obstacles, there's a brief 2 second timeframe where the drones are stationary and can be easily shot. Otherwise, let them run up to you(preferably right before a corner). Pause to trigger the drone, and run away. You'll likely sustain some damage, but you'll be alive. "Sometimes it's worth not shooting at the seeker drones because you have the element of surprise, they don't expect you to let it pass you." ---Tip by Benchwarrior

  5. Batou
    • Playing as: your rockets are only good for close/medium range, so don't snipe with it. Very useful in terminal conquest, as it can take out the enemy Tachigoma. It is alway useful in area where enemy players clump/set up camp(eg Maven shield, Turrets). A single missile packs a huge punch, so I almost never wait for level 2

    • Playing against: what can you do when the rocket is coming at you? Run and jump to the left or right. Pray. Best case scenario, you'll live or they completely miss. "Playing against batou, if you round a corner and there are rockets heading your way you will see one or two triangles on the wall or the floor where the rockets are going to hit. avoid going anywhere near that area until you see the explosion."---Tip by Benchwarrior

  6. Ishikawa
    • Playing as: wait for level 2 and place your turrets in a position where the enemy will likely walk across. You are able to pick up and reposition your turrets, so don't think that they are stationary. In demolition, place your turret to face the bomb. In terminal conquests, place them facing the terminal or a corridor. Choke points on the map are the best locations to deploy!

    • Playing against: you can either destroy the turret or ignore it, depending on the map/objective. Wait for the turret to face away before moving, or move towards and behind the turret to avoid being locked on.

  7. Paz
    • Playing as: perfect flanker/rusher. Don't sprint towards the enemy in a straight line, as this makes you an easy target. When flanking, try to sprint knife execution combo(absolutely disgusting when done correctly). " when you come across a group of enemies that don't know you're there and you plan on knifing, ALWAYS attack the player in the back first. " ---Tip by Benchwarrior

    • Playing against: shoot ahead of where they are moving, the hit box will be there instead of where they appear. take out your knife and execute them first if your reaction is fast enough, not many paz players expect this outcome. Wait for the paz player to jump, it is much easier taking them while airborne from personal experience.

  8. Maven
    • Playing as: hold out a corridor, great for snipers, very useful in terminal conquests, or downtown deijima(center lane). The shield can be moved, so reposition yourself when needed. "one good strategy is to place the barrier and then hide around the corner opposite of it. players will shoot the barrier to see if anyone is behind it alerting you to their presence. and giving you advantage in any firefight because they will let their guards down." ---Tip by Benchwarrior

    • Playing against: shoot one bullet periodically into the shield as you're approaching see if an enemy is there. Hover your crosshair across the shield, the enemy's name should display in red if they're behind the shield.
Advanced tips and tricks
  1. fire rate for automatic weapons:
    • spray at close quarters-yes I'm advising you to spray, the smart way of course. From the moment you fire (at the torso), move your crosshair to the left and right of the body(repeat until the enemy has been slain). This is to ensure that your bullets will connect with a running enemy, or while you're strafing. Both of which will likely decrease your accuracy at close range. Shooting in this manner will give you a higher percentage of striking the hitbox. This can be done while hipfiring and using ironsight.

Motoko caught me off guard, but "smart" spraying saves the day!

    • Tap tap tap for medium/long range combat-the recoil of your gun will be much more noticeable at a longer distance. Controlled consecutive firing of your SMG/AR will give you maximum accuracy at medium/long range.

  2. Set up for fast reaction(preaim)-this is done by positioning your crosshair at approximate torso/head level, at 1head distance beside the corner you are checking. If an enemy happens to walk out, he/she will be walking into your crosshair. Instead of you reacting and moving your mouse to an enemy, the only work on your end is to pull the trigger as they walk into sight.

  3. Reloading-never ever reload in the middle of the fight! if theres a few bullets left in the magazine, check the corners before reloading. In a 1v1 situation and you happen to miss every bullet, pull out your pistol and empty it. If that fails, pull out your knife and go ham with it. This method is always preferred as every second you spend not killing the person in front of you(reloading), they're using the time to kill you.
Example 1: changing to knife mid reload.

"switching to knife mid reload is a great way to cancel the reload animation and allows you to fire any remaining bullets if you switch back quickly enough" ---Tip by Benchwarrior

Example 2: No ammo, yet enemy/player is too far to knife. Use the pistol!

    Example 3: Rock, paper, scissors!

    • Personally, I feel confident checking corners with a minimum of 6-10 bullets(this number may be different for you. Dependent on how confident you are with your aim). Any less, then I will reload before venturing. Use your judgement for switching to pistol/knife(base it on distance).
    • reload speed-reloading a gun will be faster if your magazine isn't empty!!-Patch 27/07/2016*- Ballgobbling

  4. Using walls as cover-"make sure that only one enemy is in sight at any given time. if they can't see you they can't shoot you. this is how i consistently get kill streaks of 8 or higher. regardless of what character is used." ---Tip by Benchwarrior

  5. Flanking-when you manage to get behind 2+ enemy players, it is important to prioritize who you'll put down. Always start with the player closest to you, then proceed with those likely to cause you imminent harm.
    • Example scenario: you are in terminal conquest, and in a good position to flank 3 enemies running to a terminal. Take out the slowest one(Darwism!), then observe who turns their head first. If the player at front turns, take him out, then deal with the middle player. This is easier said than done as it requires quick observation(if you can see the enemy player's eyes, chances are they can see you), and split-second decision making.

  6. Bunnyhopping AKA jump shooting/how to deal with it-classified as a player who hops left/right while shooting. This is a double-edged sword in my opinion(high risk). The player is giving up mobility for the chance that your shots will miss their hitbox. As someone who've employed this technique frequently in the past, I'm advising you guys to shoot slightly ahead of where the center of mass is moving to. This is because the hitbox while you are shooting at a hopper is actually not directly where that player appears to be in midair(also applies to PAZ while sprinting). Shoot the hopper as they begin to land, this is their most vulnerable moment. It does take a little practice at various distance to consistently kill a hopper.
    • Personally, I don't think the risks was worth the rewards. Which is why I switched to a more conservative playstyle with automatic rifles. But there are players who utilize this technique quite frequently and successfully.

  7. the blind/hack/360noscope shot-the hardest yet easiest shot you can make in any FPS. This technique is a combination of muscle memory, getting used to your mouse/game sensitivity, and quick reaction. Moving your cursor from point A to point B on the game screen requires you to move your mouse a certain distance. It's that distance you should imprint into your wrist muscles. I'll give you guys 2 scenarios that I encounter often, and how this technique works in my favour 70-80% of the time:
    • while sniping-hovering the cursor and taking the shot without spending too much time confirming that your crosshair is on the target. I often get an approximate "feel" of where my crosshair should end up while moving my mouse. It is up to your reaction to pull the trigger when the "feel" train hits.

    • when being shot from behind/side-often I was able to turn 180 immediately upon being shot, and end up killing the shooter first due to knowing how far I should move my wrist to see the enemy.

There's a slight element of luck involved, but this technique can be performed quite consistently when you get a hang of it(acquired mainly through experience).
Conclusion
There you have it folks, some of my personal tips to help you get ahead on the battlefield. Give them a try! Do note that it may not work for everyone, as this guide is a digest of my habits, playstyle, and things that I learned from other players. So experiment around to see what works for you and what doesn't.

I would've, though I already used all my Tickets, unless I created another Steam Account or paid real money In-Game, then I won't be getting another character. 😏😐

Indeed. And even so, i'm not spending a lick of sh!t with real money, gotta watch my expenses.
Lol!

I beg the differ a fully modified gun plus a skilled player will trump a skilled player with a weak weapon. Same goes for player that has all the upgrades on there operative. Having all the items gives you a huge advantage in this game.

Why did most of this felt so cringy.

Doubt it, probably some sort of in game cursor tracking program.
