Introduction to this Guide.
Welcome to the Guide!

We've been looking forward to a new pilot! Read this document hereafter to get yourself familiar with your Starfighter and its relative performance to others.

Don't be expecting any sort of detailed tactics or techniques. This guide focuses on the performance (by the numbers) and basic tactics for the 10 flyable Starfighters in the game. If more detailed intel comes forward from combat, it may be edited into the guide.

How to use this Guide.

I made this guide with simplicity in mind. I try to keep away from the development and history of the Craft. Instead, I focus on the relevant information to a Pilot (such as yourself).

Here is how the Guide is formatted.
- In the beginning you will see the Name of the Craft listed.
- Photo of said craft.
- After that you will get the basic description of the Craft.
- Raw Specifications (including its ranking versus other Starfighters).
- Overall Scores (Tactical, Fighter, Attacker).

If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment. I am more than willing to answer any sort of confusion or mix-ups.

Feel free to now choose the chapter you are most interested in using the Index to your right. Thank you for reading and enjoy!
Intoduction to the Empire.

Welcome to the Empire!
Good choice in choosing the Empire. We almost thought we lost you to those terrorists. Now to get you started we should explain what its gonna be like fighting for us.

Imperial Starfighter Doctrine: Attack in large, aggressive groups. Overwhelm the enemy.

Overall Pros and Cons of Imperial Starfighters
    Pros.
  • Highly Maneuverable/Agile. Making you hard to hit in combat.
  • Fast. Making you hard to catch
  • Good Visibility Forward. Making it easier to lead shots manually and find your next target.
  • Small Cross-Section from the rear. Making it hard to hit in a tailchase.
  • Low Pilot Workload. A simpler bird means less time looking at your dash and more looking at the enemy.
    Cons.
  • Little to no durability. Lacking Shields and Structural Support, one or two hits and you are dead (even collisions tend to kill them instantly).
  • Lower Flexibility. Lower payloads: meaning less ability to be flexible in combat, everyone must stick to their roles.
  • No Hyperdrive. Meaning if your Home-Ship gets destroyed you are stuck where you are.
What and What-Not to do in Imperial Craft.
  • Do not engage in head-on attacks. Head-on attacks should be kept to a minimum, they give the enemy equal chance to fire back (in a TIE that's certain death). Instead try to close the distance while keeping yourself away from his guns.
  • Never ignore munitions guided at you. If possible shake the pursuers lock. if he fires: shoot the missile down or dodge until it goes away.
  • Do not ignore enemy Starfighters that are targeting you. Left unchecked they will find a way to damage you (and again in a TIE: Death).
  • Refrain from targeting turreted ships. Turrets have a nasty habit of being accurate and powerful, these can destroy your craft very quickly. If you must attack a ship with a turret, keep it as short and your flight path as unpredictable as possible.
  • Do not break away from the pack. Imperial Starfighters are meant to be used in mass and you should at least have one more Starfighter around you for mutual support.
We wish you luck there Cadet. You may continue reading this guide to familiarize yourself better with our Starfighters.

Introduction to the Rebel Alliance.

Welcome to the Rebel Alliance!
Good choice in choosing the Alliance. For a second there we thought you would of fallen for that Imperial Progaganda.

Rebel Starfighter Doctrine: Hack n' Slash attacks. Kill them before they know whats coming!

Overall Pros and Cons of Rebel Starfighters
    Pros.
  • Shielding. Makes you less prone to getting killed by random fire.
  • Hyperdrive. Letting you get in and out of any sector with ease.
  • Good All-Around Visibility. Making it easier to visually see attackers.
  • Good Multi-Roles. Rebel Starfighters have larger Warhead Capacity, making them excellent Multi-Role Craft.
  • Durable Craft. Even if your shields go down, your craft is alot tougher than the Imperial Starfighters. Also the R2 unit can assist in repairs.
    Cons.
  • Poor Manuverability. Making you an easy target for TIEs and Turrets
  • Higher Pilot Workload. Balancing Shields and Lasers forces you to look down at the dash more often, distracting you from combat.
  • Performace Worsens as Combat Progresses. In order to keep your Lasers charged and your Shields strong you must drain your available power, worsening your Starfighers performace.
What and What-Not to do in Rebel Craft.
  • Do not engage in extended Turn-Fights. Imperial Craft are more manuverable than you and will beat you very quickly in an extended Turn-Fight.
  • Do not rely on your Shields. They are there to be a disposable way of deflecting random hits, they do not make you invincible.
  • Keep Head-Ons short and sweet. You can kill Imperial birds quickly with a Head-On, but you want to minimize damage to yourself.
  • Refrain from targeting turreted ships. Turrets have a nasty habit of being accurate and powerful, these can destroy your craft very quickly. If you must attack a ship with a turret, keep it as short and your flight path as unpredictable as possible.
  • Do not break away from the pack. Imperial Starfighters are used in mass and can engulf individual Rebel Starfighters and a swarm of angry TIEs.
Good luck out there Pilot! You may move on to familiarize yourself better with our available Starfighters.
Rebel Fighter Craft.
